Etched reticle optical centering ?
«

Seems I read somewhere etched reticles are not as likely to throw off poi when close to maximum elevation and windage changes vs. wire reticle scopes when used on a Springer air rifle.
If anyone has knowledge on that or can direct me to a link on the topic that would be appreciated.
thank you

I don't think reticle type has anything to do with it. When you reach the limits of the adjustment, the springs are either too loose(no compression) or too tight(bound up). Either way the reticle can move.

One thing: - recoils/vibrations may break the wire reticle, but not if it is glass etched.
Other thing: - the reticle (wire or etched) is attached inside an ‘erector tube’ that is inside the main tube. When you adjust the scope, what moves is the erector tube, not the reticle itself. Basically, at one end, the erector tube has 3 points of support – vertical turret at 12 o’clock, windage at 3 and a spring at 7:30. When the scope is optically centered these 3 points work at their best balance to resist recoils/vibrations, and hold zero. So, closer to the OC is better.
