Scope suggestions for Crosman Optimus?

Anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive but decent scope for a Crosman Optimus .177? Obviously not the most accurate gun, but I have one so I would like to mount something usable on it. Won't be doing 100 yards with this one, so I'm thinking a Hammers 3-9 x 40, CenterPoint or one of the cheaper UTG's.
(Incidentally, I'm leaning toward a Hawke Airmax for my Hatsan 95 Vortex QE. Someone in another post suggested a Hawke Vantage for that gun as an inexpensive alternative. I've thought about putting a Vantage on my Optimus, but I'm guessing the Optimus would eat this scope even faster than my Hatsan 95. Thoughts?)
By the way, I've only been on this forum for a few days but have already received lots of great advice. Thanks to all!

Over four years ago I got a Hawke Sport 3-9 X 40 AO for my Nitro Venom. It lived there for three years. The Venom is gone but the Hawke moved to my Diana 34 and now lives on my Diana 35. I don't know if the warranty is any good - it never broke!!
The Vantage line seems to be the replacement for the now discontinued Sport line. At the moment I have three Hawkes. I have no complaints with any.
I also have a Leapers UTG 4-16 X 44 which will go onto my Diana 34. Something came loose in my original but it never lost zero, you could just see "something" in the scope. They exchanged it on warranty for a brand new one. I do like their scopes, too.

I too have a Hawke Sport HD 3-9 X 40 but not A/O. It's optical clarity is better than ANY of my CP's.
I don't think the Sport line is made anymore but replaced by the Vantage line you speak of.
That said A/O is desirable at shorter ranges ... I got a Simmons "22 Mag" 3X9 32 A/O on a
strong
springer and it is doing very well.
To find an A/O scope this nice is hard to do at under $60 and it's clarity is right up there.

Yes The Hawkes are pretty good and will not disappoint. A cheaper option that is not too bad would be a Nikko Stirling Airking or Mountmaster. Both airgun rated but spend as much as you can afford. Even rat round in the car for the meter money because a ratty scope will never be any good and you get what you pay for. You can you can always put a good scope on a better rifle one day.
