...and totally forgot how fun this thing is.
Here's the backstory:
I bought a tuned XS46U from Flying Dragon, and although it has been VERY accurate and consistent with irons, I never bothered putting a scope on it because the rail is milled tilted, about 5 degrees to the left.
Today, on a whim, I took the UTG SWAT 3-12x from my underperforming Titan and installed it on the XS46U. I had to remove the factory picatinny rail to install my one-piece mount, but that was easy enough to do with a flat-blade screwdriver and some leverage. The tilted rail didn't seem to affect much...it's actually slight enough that it doesn't really feel unnatural when shouldering the rifle. As long as the reticle is squared to the bore, it should be fine...and so far it has been.
Before, with irons, I was able to hold groups of 1-1.5" at 25y. Now, the rifle shoots easily inside of that. JSB 18.1s, CPHP 14.3s, and H&N Barracuda Hunter Extremes all group very well in this gun. I also tried JSB 15.9s, Crow Mags, Barracuda Hunters, and JSB Ultra Shocks. Of those, only the 15.9s actually fit in the breech. The heads on the other pellets are too wide by just enough to cause problems for loading.
The CPHP 14.3s were the best group, were moving at a chrono-verified 725fps. I didn't chrono the rest due to running out of time/daylight. I *hope* the Hunter Extremes are zipping along somewhere close to that...high 600's or low 700s would be just fine with me.
I have a HOSP that has taken up residence in a bird feeder in the backyard...I may see what this thing can do tomorrow after work. I'll also try to get my pictures posted tomorrow...I'm moving some things from Photobucket to a public share on Google, so we'll see how that goes.

I've always liked the breech arrangement of that gun. It reminds me of a .22 rimfire conical target breech. And plenty of room to load it. Plus it's an underlever. I need to quit procrastinating and get me one!
