Diana 34 bent barrell,can happen?

Hi guys,a friend of mine asked me to check his Diana 34.
He shoot open sights and the rifle shoot low,say 2" at 15yards,even with the rear sight at his maximum height.
The crony says the power is good.
Barrell bent down by excessive force at cocking is the only thing that come in my mind, can happen?

I can not envision bending a barrel by cocking but I guess it COULD happen. My Diana 34 can be pretty hard to break open if I don't lube the ball and latch from time to time. It also helps to slap the barrel open rather than pushing it.
Put a straight edge along the top and bottom of the barrel to see if it is actually bent and how badly.
If you wish to straighten the barrel instructions for a barrel bending tool can be found in the GTA library.

i have heard that the german's intentionally put droop in the barrel when building them.
if that is true or not, i can't tell you...other than my D34 uses a droop compensator
and is amazingly accurate once you master the perfect hold....

I also had a Diana 56 Target Hunter with dreadful barrel droop and bought a set of expensive Adjustable Scope Mounts. (This is before FX sold their "No-Limits" mounts). The FX No-Limits are much cheaper and would do the job really well.

Are you shooting with open sights? Are they the new fiber optic type?
I have a Diana 48 T06 which was way off. I loosened the set screw on the front sight and slid it back, lowering it. I then tightened the set screw and could adjust easily using the rear sight. If you do this just remember to tighten the set screw really well. Mine vibrated loose and I found the front sight on the ground outside after I had scoped the rifle.

Diana barrel droop is when the barrel and the receiver are not alined, not when the barrel is bent down. Since the rear sight is mounted on the barrel and not the receiver, droop is not a factor with open sights(at least the OEM ones that are mounted on the barrel. Scopes are mounted on the receiver and this misalignment can have a major impact on scoped rifles.
Put a straight edge along the top or bottom of the barrel and see if is is really bent. Place the same straight edge on the receiver and see what the space difference is near the loading port of the barrel and the muzzle. That is your droop!
Many people have had great success bending barrels straight or crooked just so long as the POA and the POI are the same.
Often barrel can get bent upwards if you either pull the trigger with the barrel open after it has been cocked or if they let the barrel slip out of their hand while they are cocking it.
Hope this helps,
Yogi

Thanks for all the replies,i will check the straightness in some way.
Don't know what happened,but i checked:
rear and front sight
crown
breech seal
speed and consistency
The rifle simply groups low.i dont't like the idea to straightening the barrell,i will try to made some shims to put under the rear sight to compensate,if this don't require too much tickness.
