................. I'm losing lots more fps/fpe percentage/wise than I should be, it seems.Thanks.
As a new/first time chrony owner I've been testing quite a bit. I have tested inside the air conditioned house(74 degrees) in the direct sunlight coming through a window (I know it is probably less than ideal for accurate results). I also just finished testing it outside in the direct sunlight and its in the low 90s today (so far, supposed to get to 97). Inside in the ac (again direct sunlight through a window) and outside in the low 90s gave the same results: 9.5fpe average in the 77k and 7.5fpe with the 50s (I did get it up to 7.7 average fpe with a different pellet but I'm chalking that up to simply using a different pellet). I also did the toilet paper test of the breech seal and it did not move at all when fired (laid over breach seal/piston area).I'm really looking at JM's Hornet seal and spring. Any good or bad experiences with them?
I don't think this is specific to HW springers, more just tuning a springer to perform better at altitude.http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/thread/1256699564/Finally,+Springer+altitude+testing+completed+with+pics+and+decent+data+volumeAlso, I think the tuning done was more to make a springer less susceptible to changes in elevation than to boost power in the thinner air but the article might give you some information to take into account when you're trying to get your setup dialed in.Bluep.s.
