I've had a few tins of pellets banged up, but the guts were all fine. I'm also persnickety- I'll only order screw-on tin pellets or RWS- which come with a sliver of tape securing the lid. JSBs and other slip-on lids I order only from PA.
Most of the other stuff I order from Amazon comes well packaged- but I also live less than 15 miles from a major Amazon warehouse, so they don't get many chances and molest my package. And I order a lot of stuff otherwise since I accrue gift cards frequently. Heh, got another $100 headed my way in Amazon credit
I've had problems with FedEx, USPS, UPS... you name it depending on which actual delivery person it is. The 2 "normal" UPS folks (one's a older guy and the other a younger gal) both know I work from home so they always take an extra moment- and the stuff they bring is always gently handled.
I'm also pretty brutal with my reviews, both to Amazon's shipping, the product reviews, and on the 3rd party if need be. Had Amazon reach out to me a few times to "make things right", so they do care. We can bad-mouth Bezos all we want- some of this is the price you pay for getting stuff from anywhere on the planet within just a couple days. Or in simpler terms, the faster it gets here the less time there is to baby the package.
And another question: how many of you folks can say you are the gold standard in your business? It takes a lot of effort to get there, especially with a company serving a national or international customer base. Amazon has a global reach, and sure pellets could be handled better. But most things come down to shoddy handling by a few dunderheads.

Lizzie, fortunately they package pellets much better. Here's my favorite example:
They were shipped in a box big enough for a medium-sized dog to lie down in, with not a stitch of packing material.
The replacements also arrived damaged, just not as badly. That marked the 3rd time--3 for 3--that they had failed miserably to package pellets adequately and I finally learned my lesson and stopped buying JSB pellets from them. Pellets that are packaged on a carboard backer blister pack (RWS, Crosman) have always been okay.
