There's what should you do versus what I would do. First comes the realization that you're going to spend money. If your car needed a new engine and transmission what would you do - knowing something else may go next?Okay, if I wanted to stay with Crosman I'd try to find a deal on a new or refurbished NP2 series. It still has the iffy pivot support but the trigger can easily be made almost equal to the European triggers. If I didn't care about staying with Crosman I would go with a (refurbished) Diana 34 (or Weihrauch HW95) in a heartbeat. They have superb triggers and NO pivot issues. They use a conventional coil spring but I find that preferable personally. However you go, good luck.
Yeah, a barrel is about $15 and a gas ram is about $26 from Crosman plus $4 shipping. It's a cheap deal to fix it. Barrel part # B19-2-01-100C (5.5) , and part# BT9M22-00-5A for the gas spring.
The Remington has a different/better lockup than a Crosman.

I might have the lesser. Mine is model #R1K77NXP
