Benjamin letter models

Greetings all
I just joined I found this site searching the net for early Benjamin air guns. I have owned several Benjamins. Some years back I purchased 2 model g's an E and F. on the net. I disassembled them all and cleaned the air chambers. After inspecting them I had a friend who has a lathe. I drew up drawings what I thought would let me fabricate the parts to repair them. He made the parts and I got them all operating. I improved the seals ,which were leather or rubber which had shrunk, replacing them with better seals using modern materials. I experimented with different materials which would not be affected by age or oil.
They all shoot well, The max velocity on the Gs is about 550 =/- some.Fps/9-10 pumps. The E and F about 400 450 fps. Ten pumps is the max I can put in them. If I was heavier I could really get higher velocities. It is hard to pump because you cannot put full force on the stock as it might split. I have to put my ight hand on the butt and hold the stock. I need to make a pad to put on the butt to be able to put more pressure/weight without hurting my palm. I took the rifles to a repairman/airgun sales and he measured the fps.
The triggers on the E,F are tricky as the quicker you pull the trigger the higher the velocity.. That causes it to be hard to hold on target. The report is not a pop as with lever style Benjamins but a loud spizz, almost silent. That is the trigger simply pulls the output seal which is not very fast.
The lead Benjamin balls are heavy. If I could make some round balls or pellets from woods metal It would have higher velocity. I have not use metal bbs with a patch. That might improve ballistics. I think that there would be some way to remove the rod assembly and fabricate some expanding/sealing block connecting same to a tirepunp so I could check pressure
I would like to know if anyone out there has achieved higher as the old Benjamin literature shows boys with the rabbits they killed. They would have to do that with a head shot

Welcome airboy!
It is very satisfying to get some of these old guns up and running. Just be careful, this rabbit hole does not have a bottom.

Welcome to GTA, Ben.
I suggest that you search this forum, "site:gatewaytoairguns.org xxxx". Enter this into the search engine of your choice including your search words, "xxxx". The search function in GTA isn't that good.
Good luck!
