Daisy / Winchester M14 Replica

Hi All,
I've been a lurker here for a while but recently completed a project that I got the idea for from other postings that I read here. After buying a Daisy M14 I too thought the plastic stock and hand guard really looked cheesy and decided to try fitting a walnut stock and fiberglass hand guard. So I ordered a half decent stock and hand guard from Treeline Enterprises (who by the way apparently bought all of Fred's remaining inventory). After hogging out a lot of wood I got the air gun receiver to fit in the stock. I had to remove the steel stock ferrule and carve the lip down to accept the plastic ferrule from the air gun. I also had to make a few parts on the lathe. The stock I received had the full auto cuts in it so I ordered a full auto parts set from Sarco. After some more lathe and milling machine work I ended up with a functional knob and epoxied these parts to the stock. I had so much fun doing this job that I decided to make another from a BM59 parts kit. I failed to take any pictures during the M14 build but will take progress pictures for the BM59 project. So far I'm off to a good start but may run into a problem with the height difference between the real barrel and the air gun barrel. I'll find out for sure once I inlet the air gun receiver into the BM59 stock.
I have attached a few pictures of the M14. One of them is a before and after pic.
Thanks for looking,
Gene

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

that's pretty awesome 👍
I painted the handguard on mine brown to look more proper and made the cutouts in the flash hider, but other than that it's all stock.
It's a fun gun to shoot, though I just don't very often as co2 isn't cheap.

I just remembered something.
I heard somewhere ( I think in a pyramid air blog ) that they were originally supposed to cost about 200$ and that the only reason they cost 60-70$ is because Daisy was discontinuing them in order to release a wood stock version.
So why are they still about 60$ a few years later. and where is the wood stock version Daisy ?
Did anyone else here this ?

Thanks guys,
I'll be starting a new post soon for my BM59 project. I suppose I'll post it in this category since there's a Daisy airgun at the heart of it.
Thanks,
Gene

Thank you for posting this can't tell you how much of a help it is for me.I was thinking of doing this. I have some. Issue fiberglass stocks with the military with the flip up butt plate I was unsure about ordering the daisy without knowing how close the internal parts are.
