New FX walnut stock seems dry
«

Hi folks! It's hot, humid, and I'm sweating a ton when out shooting these days. And the walnut stock on my new fx royale seems very, very dry. As I sweat it's pretty much soaking into the wood. This can't be very good for it... Can anyone recommend a product that will minimize the wood's tendency to do this?
Here are a couple of photos:
As I look at these now, they really don't convey the semi-rough finish. Would Tung, Trrum or Linseed Oil be a possibility? I think the finish on the inside of the stock is pretty much the same so I could probably do some test applications there.

Wood feeder such as HOWARDS "Feed-N-Wax" or just a good old dose of 3-4 good paste wax applications.

+1 on the Howard's, that stuff is great and a little goes a long way. Used it on a pre-64 Winchester and it really turned out well. It may darken the stock a bit.

Here's a photo of how the stock came out. Thanks for your suggestion!
I'll post more of the photos in the Darkside gate later!

Oh, here is the before photo from that side of the stock. FWIW, it's just a cell phone photo so that makes it look a bit worse than it actually was...
