Side Wheel Marking

Hey members, I would like to know what is a consensus of marking side wheels for HFT. I have a Hawke Airmax 30SF 3-12x. I was thinking of going to a HFT in Falls Township, PA and would try my luck w/my prosport. I have yet to mark it with varying yardages but for example:
1) Starting at 10yds, should I do one yard increments? If so, then from 10 to what yardage should I do in 1yd increments? Then move to what yardage and increments.
2) How should one mark their sidewheel? Now mind you, I am not to knowledgeable on spreadsheets, photo shop apps and so forth, so please be kind. I tried searching on here and I'm guessing me and search don't mix, lol.
Any and all help is much appreciated. Thank you

Hi Jay, Here is what I've done so far on my personal FT rigs.
So when I'm deciding how close to mark my yardage I look at an app like chairgun etc. and see at which ranges is my pellet rising or falling sharply,
for instance here is a graph for my FX wisper T12 in .177 shooting just sub 20fpe, now were you are zeroed will change the graph but in this case
So you can see from 10-20yds the pellet is rising an inch so I marked for every yard or depending on your scope and sidewheel size every 2 yds.
Then from 20-40yds I only marked every 5yds knowing that the pellet is flying pretty flat and consistently.
but from 40-55yds I did closer markings again since the pellet is starting to drop rapidly.
There are a ton of different ways to mark your scope wheel and it depends how far you want to go with it, I just put painters tape on my wheel and then
marked it with a pen or permanent marker, and that works fine though if I ever get caught in a rainstorm things could get interesting,
and that is why many will print off a scope wheel tape(there are a couple programs you can use to do so) and then laminate them so you have a very nice and easy to ready
as well as pretty water proof setup.

Here is one such calculator:

Unfortunately I can't speak to how well they work etc. since I haven't used any yet.

There's a thread on the yellow about this (maybe it's yours) that has some additional thoughts (from posters here).
One of the things you will find is that unless you have a 6" wheel or a shaped one, you will run out of space for markings for the ranges in the 40-55 yard "areas," which is bad because those are the steepest drop ranges. But if you are shooting hunter with a 12x, those ranges are hard regardless of your scope tape.
