The 342 is one of my personal favorites but I am a little biased.
If it is in good shape you paid about the most I am willing to spend, but I know they can go for a lot more.
If the internals are proper it should hit with a serious "smack" at 6 pumps. I hardly ever have to go to the max of 8 pumps unless I am checking to see if it retains air.
You know the saying...

The 342 was a great gun. Very well made, quality american air rifle. Yours dates to 1980. Whether you got a good deal or not completely depends on the condition and function of that particular gun. If it is in great shape and shoots powerfully and accurately, then yes, you got a good deal. With 14.3 grain pellets and 8 pumps a 342 generally should get at least 600 fps. I'm guessing you haven't received it yet. When you do, let us know how it does. I've had pretty good luck with JSB 18.1 grain pellets with my benjamins.

As already stated, the 342 is a great rifle. I have two of them. One stock, the other Steroided. They're both nice short, solidly built rifles, that are not pellet picky. I shoot everything from 14g RWS Wadcutters to 32g Eun Jins. The beauty of a pumper is you can adjust the power according to pellet weight, distance and power desired.
Whether you got a good deal is dependent on condition & if you're satisfied.
Congratulations on your new vintage airgun.

My 342 is a racine pre-drilled for peep sight. I got it in 3 pieces and the internals in a zip bag for 75.00. I put in a Mac-1 kit with seals and pump cup. It gets 660fps with 8 pumps. It is my new favorite, more-so than my springers and my streak. Benjamin was on the ball with the 34X's. You're going to have a blast with yours. Congrats and don't forget the secret sauce.

HEY ELTON.
Can you post the auction pics from ebay?
Should be in your purchase history on your "My Ebay" account still even though the auction has ended.

Still not seeing it on this end Elton.
Are you trying to paste the pic directly into the reply from your computer?
Can't do that, you have to use the "Attachments and other options" feature right below the text box.
...or host them on a website like "Photobucket"

Like Scott mentioned; all you have to do is go to your ebay page that shows a picture of your 342. Place your cursor (the arrow) at the top of the screen that shows the link. Right click & a small screen will appear. Left click on "Copy".
Now it's simple from here; right click on your GTA reply page, then left click & click on "Paste"...your done.
