Sorry, I went back to check the Tractor supply web site. 3/4" 4x6 and 96 lbs. I could have sworn it was 1" 4x6 and 109 lbs. Maybe it has been discontinued. Ohhh and don't use a circular saw to cut it........That is a clean up from heck.
Anyway, is the OP looking for a back stop or a trap? The mat is for a backstop and a standard store bought trap filled with duct seal to hold paper targets.

Hi Traxxx,
What calibre gun do you use and what distance do you usually shoot at?
I was looking into a Horse Float Mat as a backstop for a .25 Bobcat at 27yards and wondered if it would get destroyed quickly etc.

I use ballistics clay I got back in the early "80's" in an 11" x 12" pellet trap I made out of 1x6. I put 2 bricks in it and shot a .22 pistol into it back when it was new and it stopped the .22 bullet. The bullets did penetrate about 1 1/2" but it stopped them. A pellet only penetrates about the length of the pellet so the pellet is about flush with the surface. The clay is 2" thick and now that it's 30+ yrs old it's not as soft but I like it better.
A friend copied my pellet trap about 10 yrs ago but we couldn't find ballistic clay. All I could find was clear ballistics gel so we used plumber's putty from Home Depot. It's a bit too soft but I recently ordered a brick of "Air Venturi Impact Putty" from Pyramid Air that is the same as my old ballistics clay. It just gets better with age as it dries out a little and gets easier to clean as the pellets don't penetrate as much.
