Thanks guys.  I am thinking springer to start.

IMO you have 2 choices at the entry level worthy of the expenditure.
Not on the cheap .. but paid good money and got a darn fine rifle !!

My TX200MK3 & HW97K are both .22, That is ok I have a R11 & Feinwerkbau Sport on the way. Now I need some decent bi-pod sticks and another 3-12X44 scope.

Beeman R9 is the best you can do for under $500. For a bit more an Air arms to 200 is even better. If you can't do PCP's,  those are your best choices. If you absolutely can't spend that much,  the only other gun I would consider is an rws 34.

yes trigger is cloned as well i believe.

The CHINESE sloppy copy will have a CLONED trigger ... ONLY the German manufactured HW will have the actual REKORD trigger unit.

This is true. I had a tuned b-26. It was nowhere near the quality of the R9 and the trigger, while not bad was no Rekord.

My R11 rocks, that is why I want an R9, just trying to determine if I want it in .22 or .177 because I have 1 FT gun and another one coming in Wednesday.

Hey Kallysan,

Couple of questions to put things into perspective;

Are you seriously interested in shooting Field Target, or are you just looking to try it on a temporary basis?

IF shooting on a temp basis, any gun will work (.177, .20, or .22) so long as it is 20 fpe or less.  Give it a try or ask to borrow a gun or share a gun in order to get your feet wet.

IF you already have shot a match, enjoy it, and want to continue with using a springer, I would suggest getting the best you can afford; a TX200, an HW97 or even an R9, all in .177.  All three are good guns, accurate, and have great triggers that are adjustable.  Get a springer rated scope and you have a set up that will satisfy your needs and give you years of enjoyment.

IF you then get seriously serious, you can always go over to the dark side with any number of different quality PCP guns.

The biggest factor to remember is that this game is supposed to be fun, first and foremost.  Enjoy the journey.

I know you said you wanted a springer. But, should you decide otherwise, a Marauder would work well and it's pretty cheap for a PCP starter. Of course, you would have to have a  4,500 psi bottle and a way to fill it. Just something to think about.

If you have an unregulated Marauder, a 3000psi scuba tank can be good enough. I even shot a regulated Marauder for several years using nothing but a 3300psi scuba tank. I just had to fill it more often.

Any suggestions for an entry level FT rifle?   Looks like a lot of fin but my Hatsan breaks the 20fpe limit.

I prefer a simple .177 break barrel HW95 springer, however it does seem that at the FT matches I attend the "springer shooters" are getting fewer and fewer with springer shooters moving up to PCPs. LOL....over the last couple years I've taken 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the same match more than a couple times (I was the only piston shooter in the hunter class).
