Daisy 880 and 30 wt ND

  This is probably a no brainer and common knowledge but sharing anyway. Of all of my air guns I grab the 880 the most. I had been lubing it with pengun oil. Seems what most were using even though the manual calls for 10 to 30 weight non detergent oil. I don't know what pengun oil is exactly but it certainly looks like automatic transmission fluid which is HIGHLY detergent based. So I finally picked up a quart of 30 nd.
    Back track a second. Every once in a while while using pengun my 880 would leak a little air and require more pengun to seal.

      A week ago I oiled the 880 with the 30 wt ND. I noticed immediately a firmer pump. And so far no leaks at all. So from now on my 2 Daisy's will be lubed with 30 wt ND. Less than $3 a quart at Wally World. That's what??? A few hundred dollars in Pengun oil?

IIRC, the pellgun oil is a 30 weight non detergent oil that crosman gets special made with that red dye, then marks up the cost by a huge margin (but you don't really need that much so it's not a big deal).

  I have read that many times. That pengun is 30 weight dyed red. However my experience is pengun is way thinner than 30 weights. In the bitter cold pengun still flows like 5 to 10 weight oil. It may be a true statement but I don't beleive it. I beleive what my eyes show me.
    I'll use the pengun in my crosmans and 30nd in my daisy's.

Yeah, that stuff's a good deal.  Ive switched over to Mach1 secret sauce now and am confident it will extend the life of my aluminum valve guns while preventing sludge build up.  A little goes a long ways.

I use 30wt ND on all of my MSPs, though out of curiosity I took a minute to look in the manual for my 880 and it explicitly states to use 30WT ND .
