I just won (via the GB website) a
Daisy 851
. This is very similar to the
853
with the primary difference being different sights and set up to be a casual plinker. This Daisy is still in almost new shape (in the factory box, sticker stating"rifled barrel" on the barrel. So to say, the Daisy is in great shape. It pumps up and holds air and shoots strong (probably about 500 ft/sec). To be quite honest, I usually type "vintage" when I peruse the GB website (dangerous habit by the way!!!!) for unique airguns and did not even know that a Daidy 851 existed prior to seeing this.
Any recommendations for pneumatic oil (i.e PellGun, Tim Special sauce, et al)
Thanks in advance

Mac 1 Secret Sauce. He is in the GTA Mall. I just purchased a 851 which is a 850 with a wooden stock. It is a SSP, Single Stroke Pneumatic. These seem to be based on the 880 action. I also have a 850 which I rebuilt with parts from 880 kit.

Daisy's recommendation is Non-Detergent 30w motor oil. A couple of drops on the pump piston foam wiper and at each of the linkage pivot points at regular intervals will keep it functioning at peak performance. Beware of any product using a solvent carrier, as it may attack the pump o-rings.

Nice, accurate rifle if it is like the 853. I bought a used one from CMP and it is very accurate. Certainly not a powerhouse, and a little small, but it just keeps making the same hole. I'm using a mix of 30w and ATF, tk

Thanks for the replies. I plan on this being my indoor queen (basement range).

Just a quick update, The
851
arrived in great condition. Still had it original packaging and the air rifle had no marks on the stock and no paint chips on the barrel. Pictures to follow.
I massaged
Arrow Wood Oil
on the stock and let it sit for 2 days. This helps to seal the wood and imparts a semi gloss sheen.
After cleaning the barrel (Goo Gone soaked patches, followed by dry patches). I shot this nice 3 shot group (10 meters standing , group closest to bullseye in
Orange
) . It is super quiet and if this group is any indication, I have a winner on my hands. Pellets were Gamo Wadcutters
