New to airguns and have a Daisy Powerline 856 with no info or schematics. Sorry if I don't know the correct terms for the parts. Was pretty dirty so I disassembled the gun except for the pump handle assembly. The disassembly was pretty straight forward and gave me my first look into the workings of a simple airgun. Where the pump assembly attaches to the plunger(?) there is a roll pin, but since this plunger(?) is plastic I was reluctant to try to drive it out and also the plunger(?) has a crack running lengthwise. I need to get this off the pump assembly to try to repair it as a new one is probably out of the question. This plunger has a foam oiler (shreded) and a rubber O ring that I will replace as well. The rest of the parts look OK to me. Anything special I should watch out for?
Any help on how to disassemble this plunger piece from the pump lever would be appreciated.
See the photos of the pump area in question, the layout of the rest of the parts, and my crazy workbench with the Benjamin 137 as my next victim.
Any help, thanks in advance, if not, thanks anyway. Any info from me about this gun, don't hesitate to ask.

call daisy. the sell parts and tell them you need schmatics too. I tore my 853c down and resealed it with a kit from daisy. I think shipping and kit was less than $15. google daisy outdoor products and there you can get their phone number. I call them and they are very nice to deal with. ask them any question and they give you a down to earth reply

It looks like the piston and cocking arm are one part no. on the 853. May be the same on yours. So before going through the trouble of taking it apart Daisy might have the whole assembly for sale. JMO

I contacted Daisy as you guy suggested and they sent me an owners manual which wasn't any help and a parts diagram where as you mentioned Kailua and robert w, the pump assembly is one unit. They carry no parts for this old model, but sent me a list of gunsmiths who might have the parts. I spoke with Dennis Baker at airgun-repaired.com who told me he doesn't get that many 860/856 guns to deal with, but would try to order the assembly for me. He was very friendly and helpful, but didn't know when he might have anything, So, I decided to take the bull by the horns and dig into this puppy and see if I could repair it.
All is well.
I ended up driving out the roll pin on the pump handle and was able to repair the plunger/abutment with a glue job (epoxy)on the plastic plunger/abutment, replaced the O ring and created a new oiler ring from some scrap foam pad I had lying around. For the rest of the parts, I let all the metal parts soak overnight in Breakfree CLP and cleaned the plastic in Simple Green. Used silicon grease for the plastic and rubber, but no oil on anything except a few drops on the new oiler. The spring inside the piston was starting to rust, so after rust removal I lightly lubed it with CLP. I actually assembled it three times before I got it right...seemed to get the order of assembly wrong a couple of times, but it became obvious after a few minutes. Reassembled it and all works fine.
I read differing opinions on barrel cleaning (mine has rifling). When I ran a clean patch using the line trimmer method, it came out very dark and it didn't just look like lead but dirt as well. I decided to strip it to bare metal just using hot water and Simple Green with a home made rope bore snake. Figured if only lead is left in the barrel, no big deal. After multiple passes it finally came out clean. Now, I understand I need to "season" the barrel.
I read that you need to shoot 100 pellets before it stabilizes your pattern, but mine seems fine right from the start. Clearly this is not an accurate target rifle...more of a plinking gun, but it sure is powerful and I have no problem hitting a soup can at about 20 yards (the length of where I can safely shoot). I'll have to try it out at longer distances. My old eyes and arms are probably more a factor than the gun. Still don't know how many pumps to do, but have been shooting at 5 pumps.
Since most of my shooting up to this point has been with propellant...bullets or shells, although it is not a repeater in the sense you need to pump each shot, it sure is cheap to use. Shoot all day for a few $.
Enclosing a pic of the gun assembled.
One again, thanks for the suggestion robert w and Kailua.
