Today we had a new shooter at our local FT match. She did quite well with a low power 3-9x scope and a QB78 .177 rifle that was our loaner.  She shot a 21/56, having never shot the rifle, or a match before..

This led many of us in the springer group  to a discussion...Why couldn't we shoot FT with our Diana 34's?   We were all experienced FT campaigners and all pretty much agreed: none of us could "outshoot" our current rifles; TX200's, R9's, R11's, etc... and all of us had purchased many different springers in an effort to find "the right one"  and all of had an experience with a Diana 34 that was "exceptionally accurate" in our airgun histories.    Aside from the t-05 vs Rekord trigger debate, we agreed that with good glass, ( Bushnell, Hawke, etc..) There is no reason why we couldn't conceive of taking to the National's next year with a Diana 34.... with thousands of pellets downrange before hand. 

I am thinking that this might be a "fun" idea...     Why not the Diana 34?? In 2014??

If I remember right, a Chinese R9 clone won the hunter division a few years ago.  No reason an accurate 34 couldn't do very well.

The to5 can be made into a great trigger with the addition of the second screw. I used a screw from my factory TX trigger. s10gto showed me how to do it.

What size screw?  How did you drill/tap and make sure the angle was correct?  Thanks.  for the info.  That seems much more reasonable than buying a new t06 piston/trigger block..

You can use any gun on the field target course that produces 20fpe of less of me so the RWS34 would certainly qualify if one wanted to use it. Matter of fact, IF the accuracy of the gun coupled with the accuracy of the shooter was good then it would be very possible to even do well in the scoring!

LOL.....at the very first THAGC club shoot in Selma, NC I was squadded with a shooter using a Chinese B26 with mounted Chinese 3-9x scope and he did well. There was a high percentage of new shooters present and here are the scores of the Piston hunter class........

By the way, the THAGC (Tar Heel Air Gun Club) is a newly sanctioned club that now resides in Mt. Pleasant, NC outside Charlotte, NC and the first ever NC State Championship Field Target match will be held on Septrmber 14th.  Any who are interested in attending this match are encouraged to attend and simply bring what you have to shoot as long as the power level is 20fpe or under (protects the targets). Barcabarca, The way I did this was a little trial and error. I used a scrap piece of hard plastic and drilled holes until I found one that the screw would thread into snugly without cracking the plastic. My gauge only goes down to 44 tpi, and the screw is finer then that. As far as the angle goes, I locked the trigger in a vice and aligned it by eye. Then drilled it with my drill press. You can find a screw with the right diameter, round and polish the end. I used the old TX screw because it's already polished, and rounded. Dustin (s10gto) is the one who sent me pictures on how it's done. He is a great guy, and am sure if you contact him he will help you.

Interesting, as I have been looking at getting an RWS 34 as my first springer... actually I have been reviewing alot of springers as a first, and the 34 was high on the list.

 Hello I would like to start by saying   I have never shot in or even know the rules of FT matches.  But me and my shooting bud are shooting Ben TN and Gamo. we shoot 30 to 50 yard targets with nickle size groups. Yet everybody on the yellow fourm say it can't be done. So I see no reason why a  diana couldn't be used.  It's all abut the shooter.  It took me many a tin to find the pellet that shoots most accurate in my guns. I also think if we had more people shooting and talking about some of the lowerin guns maybe more people would be come interested in airgunning. I fine the price of the nicer PCP guns run people away. What they don't realize is the springer rifle  (to me) is the way to go. I am going to read up on the FT rules and reset our course. Who knows oneday I might even enter one.   Well thats just me. Hope i didn't bore anyone. I live in Memphis Tn. and I am looking for hunting buddys.
