Same here. They clean up a lot of what would turn into a stinking rotpile. Including cattle afterbirths. We frequently see them in the pastures. No cow has ever acted fearful or aggressive toward a turkey vulture, nor have I heard of local ranchers shooting one, though it has probably happened.

Black vultures don't come here.

Vultures are birds of prey.  They are classified as Raptors.  They will hunt and kill small animals.  For generations people have repeated stories about Eagles, Vultures and even Kites and Crows attacking new born calves and lambs.  The US department of Agriculture disagrees.
IMO any new born herd animal that is in danger from a vulture is non viable.  A vulture is not physically capable of taking out a healthy calf or lamb.  Accounts of vultures eating new borns are probably correct with the proviso that these new borns were not viable.  And that is the vultures job!

  It doesn’t really matter. I gave the buzzards another dinner yesterday , but used a shotgun this time.

Turkey vultures wait for a sharp-toothed or razor-clawed predator to open up a body. Holes made by guns or jagged broken auto parts suffice also.
