The 499B is addictive

I have read plenty of post about the 499.  I am a sucker for target rifles and the 499 has always intrigued me.  Over the past 5 years I have ordered one twice but both were on back order and I ended up cancelling.  Pyramyd had their 12% off back at the 4th of July and ordered one a third time but this time it was in stock.  I finally got my BB trap built and hung on the wall yesterday, and tonight I shot it off hand at 5M.  The rifle is a blast.  I couldn’t put it down.  My arms got tired so I stopped, turned the lights and tv off in the spare bedroom, now the 5M bb rifle range, with the intent of being done for the night.  30 minutes later I am back in there going at it.  I need to do a trigger job.  Though not bad for a Daisy it still not worthy.  I need to add weight to the stocks.  Those two things can transform an already great rifle.  One thing I wasn’t sure I would like is the  single shot muzzleloader aspect.  I have to say I am glad for it now I have used it.  I just rest the butt of the rifle on my rib cage.  Drop a bb down the barrel and wait for the “click”.  Very therapeutic.  Here is a 40 shot group off hand at 5M (still need to adjust the sights some).

That is one amazing group shot off hand. I am new with the 499 and I am having fun with it. There is something satisfying about that clink when the bb gets captured by the magnet, and the muzzle loading is fun in some odd way. I doubt that I could ever shoot a group like yours off hand, well done.

Good shooting.
The 499 absolutely is addictive to shoot, so quite and accurate, and it's nice only having the bare minimum of power needed so the impacts are also fairly quiet.

Still loving it.  I have been shooting 50’ish shots most nights.  No problem keeping them in the black at 5M.  My last round of shooting last night I had 3-4 outside the black.  I found the barrel had come loose.  I snugged it back up and all was good.  I had read, or saw on YouTube, that would happen and to put a wrap of electrical tape after snugging the barrel down so it won’t loosen up.  The trigger still not worthy.  I need to do a trigger job.  It’s too light.  I need to add weight.  The combination of a heavy trigger and a 3.5lb rifle is holding this rifle back.  I can cut the groups in half once I fix those two things.

Your enthusiasm for the 499B is catching!  I have one also that I love to shoot and it is a different jolt of fun than a sweet shooting pellet rifle.  I'll be keeping an eye out to see whatever you might do to make the gun more suitable to your particulars.  And a very respectable 40 shot group, nice work!  You know you have it bad when you can't stay in bed at night because you need more shooting fun!  Carry on!
