My less than a year old Daisy 901 has developed a problem with the forearm pump handle. If I pump the gun more than three times, the forearm will not stay closed. I have to physically hold it closed. It appears the little catches on the inside of the handle that grip the plastic "ratches" on the frame have worn down.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it besides ordering a new forearm/frame?

I just noticed today the fore-arm catch mechanism on my new 901 and I don't like it. I hadn't thought about longevity. Was thinking along lines that I didn't like how they "grabbed" the pump arm while pumping. My idea for a fix is to attach some magnets inside the pump arm where they will hold against the metal frame. I checked with some little magnets I have handy and they do stick well to the frame. Also looks like there's some good thick plastic in that area so the magnets can be counter-sunk. Now just need to figure out what kind of adhesive to use. Maybe will try JB-Weld. Also possible there are some small donut-shaped magnets that could be held in place with a screw.
Found some at Amazon searching for "ring magnets with holes"

On the DP901 I have one of the first things I did was cut the knobs that hold the pump onto the receiver to make pumping easier. As it is it is anoyo having to pull that much to get the pump open. Cutting the knobs off made it Alot easier to open the pump. As for why your pump is opening after 3 pumps I do not know and haven't had that happen.

When the pump arm is fully closed, the piston face should just barely touch the seal abutment.
This is known as the cam-over state and should keep the arm closed.
This also relies on the condition of the (dreaded) "elastomer spring" or bumper, snubber etc., p/n 133081-000, a .25 part from Daisy.
Those degrade and lose tension after a relatively short period of time.
Replace that critter and I would be willing to bet (someone else's money) that your problem will be solved....until the bumper takes set again..
For a permanent solution, you could consider an adjustable length solid pump piston assy........I'm just sayin'...........

You can lead a man to water, but you can't keep him from urinating in it.

Ron, that sounds like good info. Thanks, I will investigate that.

Don't know if you've figured it out or not but mine wouldn't close all the way until I tightened the screw at the end of the forearm. Might check it.
