Tethering regulator

I’m looking for a high quality tethering regulator that is very consistent, easily adjusted. Any thoughts on these that I have found:

I can only speak for myself but I would use Topgun.  I bought my teather setup from them about a year ago.  If I needed another I would not hesitate dealing with them again.  They were helpful, easy to deal with and the setup arrived quickly.  I have not had any issues with it what so ever.

I have one that looks identical to the topgun version, except mine doesn’t have the quick fill intake fitting as I bought it quite a while back.  Wish it did.  It’s a dependable unit and easy to make adjustments. 

You did say ‘high quality’.  I can’t speak to the other cheaper versions, they may be fine, just I would check them against a known reliable gage to make sure.  I got mine from Joe Brancato at airtanksforsale but he doesn’t seem to be selling them anymore.  Surprised you don’t already have one, but it makes it much easier to shoot strings and make adjustments.

In my .257 and 7mm builds, I used Hajimoto custom Ninja bottle regulators.

They have worked well, but are only available up to 3100psi. Also, I wanted adjustable. So, an adjustable regulator that goes to at least 3900psi.

I had found a bottle reg for the 2000cc bottle that sorta works, but not great. Air consumption is also very high for this rifle so I’ve been tethering from a 45min SCBA to the bottle on the rifle. If I’m going to tether, there are better adjustable regs so that’s what I’m looking for now.

I use the aqua environment one. It seems it is also rebranded by other pcp outlets.

As with most larger/high flow regs, input does affect output but it’s minimal.

I also have a Victor brand (more $ and brass) that functions the same and I like the aqua environment.

The adjustment is super smooth and easy and it adjusts up or down (will vent pressure adjusting down.

Aqua environment is good and it can cope with big amounts of air/shot. I had early version of HUMA and it could only keep up with 50 fpe level air usage, with higher power it took over a minute to fill the gun back to original pressure. Had a talk with Huub and did some mods he recommended but it was still not good enough.

The specs on the Aqua Environment says 70psi output variation with s 1000psi input variation. Not bad. I might try that Praxair Prostar first. If that does not work out, then the Aqua Environment. The Aqua Environment, JB, and Regman  all look like the same design.

I got mine from Regman, no complaints.... I think any reg, once the tank pressure gets close to the setpoint, will show some variation....

I am glad the units you purchased from me fill the bill and work for you. I did want to take a moment and comment as a PSA that the 3100psi limit of all regulators that I sell is not necessarily the operational limit of the regulators' internal capability but has more to do with the operational pressure limits of the old .825-14 NGO thread or CGA320 CO2 valve, 1.125″ -12 UNF thread having an operational limit of 3000psi. Be careful using or buying any regulator with .825-14 NGO thread or CGA320 CO2 valve, 1.125″ -12 UNF threads over 3100psi as you could have a catastrophic thread failure.

Thanks for that info.The bottle reg that I’m using on my .308 build has an integrated shutoff valve.

I got the used (like new) Praxair tethering reg. Very nice, but does not auto vent like the Aqua Environment, so I have a manual vent on the output line.
