Texan .457 CF long barrel ammo preference

From research I see most 34" barrels love the Neilson 350gr boat tails.
What home casted ammo have you had success with.
I'm looking to buy a mold and cast my own.
I ordered a couple of lee molds to try.A 220,340 and a 405 grain since they were cheap.
I learned after my purchase that the CF can tank dump with the lite 143 grain round ball so I'm not even going to try that round until I learn the gun tuning.
I'm looking to hunt white tail/black tail within 60 yards.
I really wanted the carbine model but Pyramid Air reduced the long CF to $999 and I didn't wanna pass it up.Figured I can buy a carbine barrel later.......but can not locate one.Sent Airforce an email.

I have the SS that I put a CF bottle on. With RB it shoots well. I also have the Lee 340 and with those out of the mold I can hit a 3" round plate at 35 yards just about every time standing.

Can’t speak for the CF tanked Texan, but my standard Texan does well with 300 grain Hunter Specialty ammo that was originally cast by Tinn Starr in Texas. I’ve bought the NOE 460-315-RF-AV3 RG2 (hollow point pin) and think it will do very well as it’s nearly identical to the Tinn Starr cast slugs. I don’t doubt that the gun would valve dump with a light load like the 143 round ball. Mine zips them out at 1060 for nine shots on a 2800 psi charge…..
. I’ve had good luck with white tail at 100 yards. Wouldn’t hesitate to go out to 150.

I'd def go with some NSA 350g HPBT's to start, as they are a fantastic slug for the AFT 457...and also the new Zan 380 HPBT's,.... which to me the 380's are def even more impressive with sub 2"-and 1" groups at 100.

Mr. Hollowpoint has a good selection for the Texan, even has a hollowpoint boat tail available. Accurate Molds is another to look at for ammo if you plan to cast your own. I have several molds from them for the 909, Hercules, and Hammer.

I cast a 280 to 288gr slug from the NOE 460-315-RF 2 cavity using large HP pin and I then PC them and size to 457. Here's what I dug out of the back stop at the range they are large pi, cup pin and flat pin. I started with the 34" barrel and a R&L shroud the thing was longer than I'am tall Lol so I cut 4" off the barrel and frame, crowned the barrel so now it's alot handier to hunt with.
