Been compelled to revisit some of the pumpers we have around here lately.
i noticed a vintage leather gun bag standing it the corner of the gun room and couldn't remember what exactly was in it. I often grab a gun and put in that bag when we go to the RV/ATV trails so I figured it wasn't a PCP.
Sure enough, a Daisy 922 .22 pumper.
This is a unique little gun. No BBs out of this one... well, not entirely true... if you call lead round balls BBs.
What's slick is, it has a single shot clip. You simply open the bolt, slip the clip out to the open position and drop a pellet/round ball into the groove and push the clip back in. Way easier than loading an 880.

I paired it up with a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9X32 scope.
This setup works quite nicely. Plenty of adjustment with that scope to cover the range of the 922.

The 922 has a metal breech but it has a plastic pump arm.
There is a spring between the clam halves that holds the pump arm closed by way of a hook (if you will) molded into the pump arm.
That spring was missing on this gun and the pump arm would drop open.
I wandered down to the shop in the barn this morning and found a spring. I was able to modify it enough to make it work. I've had so many Daisy pumpers during my air gun addiction and I'm sure I'll run across the right spring... eventually.
For now, we're in business.

Seems to have plenty of power as well... sends that round ball downrange with some authority.
Might be worth setting the chrono up today.

Betty Lou is headed for the kitchen and I'm gonna hit the shower.
After that I'll see if I can dodge the "do this' and 'do that' orders and get some bench time.

Great gun !

I have a couple threads going about this gun...well. sort of..
I am repairing 2 for a customer....one first gen, the second one later model.
Both have metal pump arms.
I have resealed the early model, but it is still lower on power than her sister.
471 (up from 360 pre re-seal) vs 515 mol on 12 pumps.
I am gig to replace the breech seal to see if there is any leakage there.
Both have had pistons replaced w/current pistons, which cost efficiency due to shape and face dimple.

The other hasn't come to fruition yet.
My Winchester 1922 conversion is going to get 922 receivers (currently using 822 metal) and a Geo LDC
to go along with the .22 change and wood furniture.
So far, it shoots at 607fps on 10 pumps....

Cool, I like the looks of it, simplicity of a pumper, and the shot tray.

Daisy wasn't on my radar until I got the CMP Daisy 853 and having a blast (puff) with it.

I imagine it requires a couple pumps to get enough FPS, maybe more. Will it plink OK with ONE pump?

This gun apears to be in great shape. If it shoots as it should I won't be doing any mods.
Ronno... interesting that yours has the metal pump arms. Is that something you did or can I assume someone replaced mine in it's past?

I think the pump arm material is a variant thing.
The 2 I am working on have pump arms retained by the spring-loaded pawl out the rear of the arm;
Yours has the cross spring and hook on the arm.
Those were available in metal and pop up from time to time if you wanna switch it out.

All the 822's I have run across have plastic arms... Same gun; single shot only.

Unfortunately, my 1922 has plastic..the arm is longer, so no metal sub....

Yeah, I think I remember doing a search for them when I first got this gun (not sure when that was) but I was unsuccessful so I gave up.

How often do we get to see a first hand comparison of couple of 'rival' .22 pumpers?

Any guesses on the outcome?
I'm sure condition is going to make the difference.... both guns have some age on them but, as far as I can tell, neither have had any type of power mods.

I did replace the pump cup in the Magnum. The Daisy don't feel like it is down on power..... we'll see.

Matter of fact, let's begin a new thread because that gun is in the Crosman gate and this one in the Daisy gate.
