Great job, Scott.... It is interesting that they keep raising the minimum FPE for this event.... They really don't want the big bores to be shown up by the under .30 cal, do they?....

Recent ELR competition news:

I got 2nd at the Oregon 300yd match last month using my 7mm.

2024 RMAC was last week. Four of us on the Centercut team each shot my 7mm in each of the four relays. Three of us each had only one miss, but one team member (Derrick Wall) cleaned the course along with two other competitors. In the three way shoot-off for 1st place, Derrick did an amazing 1st round hit on a 12” square target at 600yds to clinch the win.

1st Derrick Wall, USA , custom 7mm
2nd Aaron Hipp, USA , Texan 457?
3rd Gerhard Slabbert, South Africa, PTE .308 (Netherlands)

600yd target was a 12”x12” white square plate. It had a hit indicator that flashed green when the target was hit. Location was approximately as shown.

I shot my 7mm at the 2024 EBR Big Bore match earlier this month but did not make the podium. This rifle was designed as a bench gun and this year half of the match was standing shots. I missed all four offhand shots in the first lane. That alone cost me 1st place. I missed a few more in the other standing lanes. And then a few of the farther bench targets were not activating with my 260fpe rifle. Still managed to tie for 3rd in open class but the tie breaker was a count back starting with the offhand lane, so tough luck. Under the current EBR format, the ELR capability is much less important than the standing and high energy medium range bench capability. Lighter for offhand and higher energy (350fpe+) to activate targets.

I currently have a super heavy (bench or prone only) ELR .308 under development for 2025 Oregon and RMAC. I’ve also decided to build a different rifle for 2025 EBR, a souped up, light weight Benjamin Bulldog in .308, more tailored for standing shots and medium distances.
