My Discovery/Marauder hybrid shoots down to a 0.8% ES and it's sweet spot ranges from 13 to 22 shots per fill at near or full power. It shot up to 37FPE with the .047" heavy spring which I no longer use due to resulting damage to the rifle that caused cocking and accuracy issues. It weighs 7lbs 7oz with the scope mounted and is 45" long X 8" high. It has 373 confirmed kills.
1st mods: •BSA 6-24x40AOIR scope with mil dot reticle on UTG 1" low profile quick detach rings. •Ambi Weaver rail BNM multishot breech, larger center screw, high strength handle with larger threads. •BNM barrel shroud with exhaust port, 6 baffles and 3 foam dampeners. •Refinished inletted epoxied stock with Mrod trigger guard. •Larger high strength stock lug screw. •Tuned Mrod trigger assy, trigger link with larger solid pin, custom shim and spacers. •Power adjuster with .047", .041" and .032" springs, plus degas tool. •Large OD 60gram chromoly hammer and pin. •Spring guide rod with locking stroke adjuster. •Milled valve vent for hammer exhaust. •Ported valve with 3k psi screws. •Mrod 3k psi gauge with ported adapter. •Enlarged transfer port with two seals. •Depinger.
2nd mod: This is the custom made replacement bolt. The handle is stronger grade 8 steel, plus it has more grip and comfort with it's larger size and grooves.
This is the mil dot reticle view from the scope. It's at full 24x zoom while focusing near a wooden post that's 8" wide and 30yds away. The view is better by eye with less blur and no edge distortion which was from the camera.
3rd mods: •Cerakote: On the stock, power adjuster, tube gauge & filler, breech bolt & handle, barrel & band, shroud, scope rings, triggers & guard. •Stock: Custom stippling for improved grip, sanded, 4 epoxy primer coats, then finished with cerakote. It was then dubbed the Grim Reaper. The gold lettering was a nice touch too. The cocking issue had returned so that was fixed along with the barrel crown so the gun now cocks smoothly with tighter groups.
4th Mods: Bed liner was added on the stock for improved grip and better looks too since the textured finish goes better with the stippling than the previous smooth paint job did. Silver lettering was added on the breech to match the silver lettering on the scope. The two transfer port seals were replaced since they were leaking. The tube's breech screw holes were stripped causing a loose breech and cocking issues with a lot of fliers off target from all the hard cocking due to the previously used .047" heavy spring with the power adjuster set to high power near coil bind. The tube and breech holes were tapped for added screw support to prevent another loose breech.
The final upgrade.
This pic shows the matching silver on the breech and scope.
This pic shows how the bed liner texture better blends with the stippling.
Thanks to Norm, Lloyd and Darrel(Ddgrego) for all the help!
