I bought a couple of eBay Baikals from the guy in Ohio. They were ok, but I don't think he really knows his guns. I bought an MP-61 that was listed as "for parts". When I inquired about what was missing, he said that the "button" to release the side lever was missing and it wouldn't cock. Sourced the part in Russia, then bought the gun. Turns out that it was a different style side lever that worked just fine. The part that was missing was the 5 shot magazine. Didn't order the "button" and just received three mag's from Russia today.

Other things to watch for are the different variants of Baikal IZH's. Especially the 53M. I already owned one of the older style, and mistakenly bought the newer style from the same guy. My mistake for not looking closer at the eBay listing as it was the newer style. Baikal has gone really cheap these days. The 53M is a great shooter, and I prefer the older style. Look at the pics (and their labels) below.
The older version has a different rear sight and has dovetails on the top of the tube and, it has an adjustable trigger. Also, the front sight pivots up and down to make cocking easier (sight doesn't dig into your hand).
The newer version has a really crummy rear sight, no dovetails, no trigger adjustment and a fixed front sight blade. My newer version was also......dry. As dry as you can imagine. Before I even shot it I stripped it down and lubed it.
Bottom line is, look closely at what is listed. If you have any questions about Baikals, PM me. You can see what I own in my signature.

Good News! just checked Ebay a few minutes ago and there were two 46's. One was a 46 and the other a 46M; Kind of pricey, be glad when they are again available................. :D

I have IZH on my eBay watch list. Seems like there are always a couple of 46's listed every month for about the last 6 months now. And yeah, they are pricey, up to $900. I think the cheapest I saw one go was for $525 without the box. It was an early 46 (non-M).
Keep an eye out on Gunbroker as well.

If they ever come back in stock I will be looking at adding another to my little arsenal. That is a great price. 8)

The page at that link showed "out of stock" too, when I placed my order just over a week ago. When I emailed Krale to ask when new stock was expected, first the reply was "third week in January". An hour after placing my order I get a tracking number. After asking about this, I was told "new stock just came in this morning".

An hour after placing my order I get a tracking number. After asking about this, I was told "new stock just came in this morning".
