I'd like to see a pic of that Stevens 62! I also held to Roady's, " everything works if ya let it!" idiom. I had to help my son fix his SUV that killed power in Cleveland to drive it to Tuffy's in Lorain for repair. Then over to Harbor Freight Tools up the corner from my house for this haul; The brush for the Citristrip & 2 Hatsan stocks. The tap hammer to use with the roll pin punches from Home Depot. And the electrical nuts (ie connectors) for installing piston seals. Since they're color-coded to size, the red one perfectly fits the size of the seal land on the Benjamin Trail piston to install the seal; The installation will be in a video I'm making of the rebuild.
I ordered and received a couple EK Tools circle punches for making shims for some of my breach seals that need a bit (or more than a bit) of lift to get a better seal. The sizes are 3/8" and 1/2" which will take care of 4 of my 5 break barrel rifles. Pictured is just a quick shim .015" I made out of a plasticized paper plate I had laying about. You can use most any thin material like paper, mylar, plastic, etc.. I have no idea the maximum thickness, but they'll serve my needs for thin plastic shims needed for breach seals.
Got my Gamo Big Cat 1300 Whisper .177 refurbished rifle from Midway ($50). Other than the package only being one layer of cardboard and having a big crease where the barrel was, it shoots straight. It's light and feels relatively cheap (lots of plastic) compared to my RWS 34 and even my Benjamin Prowler. The scope is very cheap, but seems to be holding. It's dieseling a bit, but it's to be expected. What do you expect for $50, right? Prior to shooting I tightened all the screws and ran 3 oiled patches and 5 dry ones down the tube. I must say, the 30 or so rounds I've put down here from 10 yards have been very consistent groups with the Benjamin bulk pellets (I think the same as the Crossman). No chrono yet until I get a few hundred down her. If she does well over the next serveral hundred rounds, I'll upgrade the scope to a Hawke 2-7x AO and lap the rings.
