One thing about projects like this, they definitely help when learning machine work. Most people don’t realize the order of operations can be quite difficult to get, sometimes a disposable part has to be made just to hold the part we’re working on. Nice work!Dave
Is there a reason that SPA made the barrel nut so weak in construction? There's a section that is 10mm in diameter with M8x1 internal threads, followed by six 2.4mm ports. Is this a torque limiting feature to protect the similarly weak barrel? Anyone know? The barrel is 10mm, with a 0.22 cal bore (5.5mm) and a M8x1 external thread. The threaded ends are pretty thin. The shroud doesn't limit the nut diameter, as it is 12mm all the way through. The ports are said to be ineffective at reducing noise. Was wondering if I could make the 10mm section of the nut, say 11mm in diameter. Yeah, I'm making this, so I can do anything I want. Just wondering if someone has done this before and can offer some suggestions.
Not sure how short the Crosman barrel is but a longer nut could be made to facilitate using something you already have vs buying. Dave
