I have a Gamo cfr.SAT trigger.its horrible so I used a long screw and turned it till sear released then back off.but then the cocking piece is gouging in the plastic spring spacer so I remove it.Is this a problem?I am new to spring powered.

go to charliedatuna.com and order the aftermarket replacement. I believe for your gun that would be the GRT 4 G trigger. It will give you a whole new feel.

Get a GRT trigger. They are cheap enough and it will upgrade the rifle in one hit.

You may be well advised to read the posts by Old Gringo about screws versus the GRT trigger. All is not as good as it seems.

With a bit of luck Old Gringo will read this and direct you to the right post. I can't recall the details precisely but the thread said that using the extended screw really just half releases the trigger and that can be dangerous while the GRT trigger alters the geometry of the trigger. I have tried the screw method and I thought it was pretty good until I had a couple of accidental discharges. That is definitely dangerous and a 1 lb trigger pull is pretty light.
A GTA member bought a GRT trigger for me and sent it to NZ at quite a cost. Worth every dollar. The difference was remarkable. That and some other amateur airgun mechanicing has made my CFR as good a Weirauch. An underlever Gamo can be very good with some tinkering.
PS my CFR had a SAT trigger not the CAT version. That version may be a different story.

The Gamo trigger design allows for very little safe adjustment with a longer screw. Using a longer screw decreases sear overlap significantly. Unfortunately random misfires often occur as a result of installing a longer screw.
The GRT IV trigger is the replacement trigger for the Gamo SAT trigger which the CFR has.

Yes, Ole Tom Cat is the Gamo guru. I shoot with him often. He's installed GRT triggered in nine of my guns including three Games. I sold him My CFR and he put a GRT in it before or after I sold it to him.
The GRT triggers make so so guns great guns. Well worth every penny.

If you want to install a gas ram, and I recommend them, you could try Custom Airseals in Australia. That is if you can't find a local supplier.
You will find Custom Airseals on Google.

Anything you suggest I do to rifle?I have it apart now.I am deburring tube&jb bore paste bore.also bought the tar for the spring.I read that the tar/grease helps with accuracy.

If you read the thread "MY CFX again" on the next page of this gate you will see what I have done. I did the same with my CFR but cut the barrel to 11.5 inches. The muzzle brake on that rifle is quite long to accommodate the standard length of the cocking lever. Without that it was too hard to cock. The cocking lever is held in place with a rare earth magnet. It holds firm and gets rid of all that wobbly plastic on the muzzle.
I have also taken the action out of the plastic CFR stock and put it in a heavy wooden stock. That rifle is now very accurate but it is heavy.
With the plastic stocked CFX, I have filled the stock with expanding foam and set a couple of pieces of reinforcing rod in it to add weight.
By the way all the Gamo underlever guns are fundamentally the same gun with different plastic bits. Gamos out of the box are oversprung and the piston seals are too hard.
If you are going to cut the barrel you need to make sure the cut is square. Either get a machinist to do it on a lathe or if you like cut it with a cut off wheel in a circular saw. You can re-crown using a brass screw and paste. It takes a bit of time.
My Gamos have plain steel barrels. I don't know if the latest underlever models have a plastic shrouded barrel. That could change what you should or should not do.

Yeah that plastic bit on the barrel is not good.I removed the plastic spring spacer & it really smooth out the shot.less vibration &slam but lost 80 fps.I don't mind the velocity loss because of the accuracy gain.

James,
I believe you emailed me about the Gas Ram Conversion. The best source for the Gamo Gas Ram is the Australian site that I recommended and now I see other's have as well, you can not get them from Gamo and the Crosman rams are the wrong length for the new trigger design with the Aluminum block on the Gamo.
As for the trigger, the mechanism is exactly the same in a break barrel as the under-lever so the risk of the gun discharging while cocking it is the same, the results are just less devastating with the CFR/CFX than a BreakBarrel. The GRT IV trigger changes the geometry of the trigger to give better feel and reaction to the trigger the longer screw adjustment just pushes the sear closer to the hairy edge and gives it less stability.
