Crosman And Remington NPSS Tune Tips
gene_sc:
I thougtht it would be benificial to go over the main tuning issue with the NPSS Gas Rams. First off the seal piston and gas ram fit is excellent. BUT you must debur the I/D of seal piston slots. Here is a couple pictures of before and after deburing process. This will insure a smooth cocking and over all shooting cycle.

Gene, you should also mention replacing the plastic breech pivot washers with either bronze or brass. In my opinion that's the only slip-up Crossman made on these great guns.

awesome - thank you

My npss Shoots and cocks like a dream, only problem is after 2000-3000 shots accuracy has fallen off. I blame these plastic washers. Where can I get metal ones?
microsalmo:
I went to Lowes and purchased brass ones for like $2. I simply miked out the diameter and thickness of the OEM plastic ones and went to work with the sander and dremel sizing the ones from Lowes. If I recall, they are called 5/8" brass washers and were in the brass wood screw section. If you duplicate the size of the plastic ones, they will fall right into place. You will need a dremel stone shaped like a cone, because the hole in the center of the washers needs to be tapered to fit the tapered steel guides in the breech pivot. But it was a fun and simple project. The gun shoots .39" groups at 30 yards since I did it. Great mod!
Also, clean your barrel. This is likely the accuracy culprit. It gets filthy dirty in mine.
