Field Target Course
Frank in Fairfield:
After seeing those great photos from the FT course in Pennsylvania, I was wondering why we don't have something like that here in California? Well, we do. When my boys were young we shot a lot of field archery. The layout on the archery fields are not too different than air rifle field target. So up in Paradise, California (Jason/Golddregger) there is a perfect range. If it safe for arrows, it will be safe for pellets. In the Bay Area we have the range on top of Mount Diablo, Briones Archery Range in San Pablo and (keeping the best for last) The Northwoods Bowmen (By George Luca's spread) range in Marin County. At the Solano County Park (Off of 128 at Pleasant's Valley Road) we had a nice little archery course with one target at 60 yards and some as close as 6 yards. I don't think that course is being used anymore. But, I hope this opens the discussion of where an airgun FT course could be held.

The DIFTA field target matches in Damascus, MD are held on the grounds of the Issac Walton League and I do believe that the field target course is shared with archery shooters because I occasionally find a stray arrow in the woods when setting out targets for a match. There was a ft club outside Harrisonburg, VA that I used to attend and the matches were shot on the American Legion grounds. Unfortuneately that club closed after a couple years because the range fees didn't keep up with the costs for liability insurance. Anywhoo.......perhaps there is something in your area like that.

if you want to put down the airguns for a bit, I will lend you a bow and we can shoot the lodi bowmen 3d course in the spring. (hint...don't challenge my daughter, she is kind of ruthless and hates loosing)
the range is by lake comanchee, up by where you all shot the f/t match in ione

We also have the El Dorado Bowmen course in El Dorado hills ... Tho you won't see Ag shooting there with such close proximity to homes and bike paths :P
Hey Frank ... Talk with the powers to be at Pino Adobe and see if the rolling hills out the back side of lake could be used ?

The Lodi Bowmens Club is one very Fine example of great range but it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to keep and maintain such a fine place I had the opportunity to shoot my Mattews there and I loved it range targets and 3d coures sweet
