Much of what is happening is that the shot string is shifted to the right (ie to a lower pressure).... On your original curve (without HDD) you are missing what would be the first 8-10 shots (guessing on the exact number) of the string compared to what you are achieving with the HDD.... It would be interesting to see what kind of curve you would get without the HDD and with the hammer spring preload reduced so that the first shot was in the 845 fps range like you are starting at with the HDDV3....

I have done shot strings with it on low power, 6 full turns less preload (before the HDD), which pushes out the 18.1's at about 800 fps average, and got fewer shots than with the HDD and the power only reduced by one turn. I didn't record the data the way I have done since adding the HDD, but I do remember the shot count was only 25.
The test is worth doing, to be objective. My feeling is that somewhere I am losing less air per shot. Can't prove it yet.
But I did have a very interesting result today:
Corkscrew Pellets: Slow motion of pellet instability in flight. Very cool.

WOW, this is some great information, I've gotta go back and read / watch this again ! Thanks

Like I suggested, try it without the HDD and adjust your hammer spring preload so that your first shot is about 845 fps at 2000 psi.... Then record the string and see how that compares to your HDDV3....
Corkscrewing pellets are weird, eh?!?
