Hello all,
New here and new to vintage air guns. Seems like a ton of knowledge here. I searched for an answer to my question but could not find anything. This is a big place and I may be in the wrong area. I picked up a Benjamin model 130. It seems to be in good shape. I have not shot it yet. I plan to get out this weekend. The one obvious thing that is wrong with it is that the pump lever will not stay in the closed position. Is this common and what needs to be done to rectify? If I am in the wrong area , can someone please point me in the proper direction?

There's a parts diagram in the manual - part #1323 is a spring that keeps the lever up. Sometimes these break or vanish. But if you adjust the piston rod length so the cup bottoms out against the valve just before the lever closes, you'll get a "cam-over" effect that keeps the lever up when it's closed even with no spring.

Thanks guys............it seems Baker is low on parts. I think I will try taking it apart and looking into the spring Don mentioned

These Benji 130s are fun to shoot. My grandson and I especially like to shoot darts,
just as my Grandpa did with me with this same air pistol!

I found a replacement spring on the big auction site. Thanks for the info guys! Anxious to shoot it now.......................where would one find some darts?? sounds like fun!!

My experience with darts is that they are most likely steel and would probably damage the bore. I would stay away from any ammo that isn't lead [like BB's and steel darts].

My grandpa got this 130 in the 1950's and I have been shooting darts in it every since.
If damage has been done, I doesn't matter at this point.....it still shoots well. It does
have a smooth bore and the manual says it shoots BB's, pellets and darts!

You can shoot bb’s or darts in a 130 without damage. Mine shoots pellets though more accurately.

I can also shoot BB's, pellets and darts from my Benjamin 310, which is also a smooth bore.
But even with 1 pump the darts damage my dartboard, so I mostly shoot pellets with that rifle.
