Hi guys,
I haven't been on here for a while as I took a break from airgunning and got back into archery with my grandkids. I missed shooting a bow and ended up buying a new compound and four recurves. Been making arrows and re uniting with the recurve shooting. Loving it.
Anyways, I got a call sat nite to go shoot starlings in a barn. Now this only works when it's very cold and there is ice or snow on the ground so around here it's only once or twice in a winter.
My friend Rich called me tonight and invited me to go starling shooting in a barn after dark with him and a couple other guys. I jumped at the chance as I have never shot at night inside a barn. I only have one pcp, my Huben K1 .22 and he told me I needed a low power gun , even a bb gun. So, I thought I would see how low I could get my Huben down to.
The best thing I ever did to upgrade my Huben was install a Huma reg in it and set it at 110 bar. I usually shoot 18 gr jsb at 900 to 925 and same with the 25 gr jsb. Just change the power wheel and scope settings and it's good to go.
I turned the pw down until I was shooting Crosman 14.3 ulramags at less than 400 fps. It functioned perfectly so I clicked the scope up two full revolutions and was dead on at 10 yards. Ready to rock.
I filled my gun up and went to meet up with the guys. We got to the barn about 7 pm and went inside. Starlings were sitting everywhere as we're several pigeons. We got down to business shooting as fast as we could. I was using my Huben .22, Rich had his Career carbine. 22, and they other two were using Daisy pump guns on 3 pumps.
It was amazing and after about an hour I had already shot over 150 shots. It was then that I thought I should take some video. All that previous shooting was done on the lower level by the cows and it slowed a bit so we all climbed up top. The video is from the top section of the barn. I've never seen anything like this before. It was just crazy.
My Huben performed perfectly at this lower setting and I dang near emptied a brand new tin of 500 pellets on one fill. Probably about a hundred left. I couldn't believe it. Sorry about the quality of the video but I just grabbed my phone and recorded some shooting. Can't wait for the next time.

Great shooting, NO lack of targets.........LOL
And just think, you didn't even make a dent in them, needs to be done every other night for the next week or so.
I know a LADY on this site that will be miffed, all those treats going to waste?
What was the final tally for the night?
Outstanding video, next time set up a lite on each end, and couple of shooting sticks,
lots of ammo/air and have FUN...................
another pair on the other end,
and the losers buys the hamburgers/cokes.
Thanks for the memories, sage bunnies in the hay fields, same thing 300>500 per night....

That was a super starling shooting gallery there Randy! How fun was that with your semi auto Huben!? I'd be smiling so hard I'd wouldn't be able to shoot! LOL! Nice video.

We had already shot for an hour in the lower half before I thought about taking some video. I went through close to 400 shots myself (with several misses ) so I think we killed close to 400-500 birds between the 4 of us. We probably shot most on the bottom half but they all fell in the cow pen.
Oh I was a smiling and laughing thats why I took a break and let the other guys shoot my Huben too.

a few guys went back the next night and shot a bunch more. Then 9 of us went back on Wed night and we probably shot another 1000. It was better than the first time.
However I had some issues. I took two of my grandkids along and right off one of the guns quit working. It was my old Winchester 422 .177 that my grandson was using. So him and my granddaughter shared her BB gun until it was empty, probably 500 shots or so. I only got off about 200 shots when my gun got too low on air so I quit for the night. I still need to check my gun and see if it has a leak or not. Anyways , the grandkids had a blast as I did too. We were only there for an hour but the other guys stayed for a total of three hours, shooting non stop.
When I got home I checked out the 422 and found he had 13 pellets stuck in the barrel. He said he was shooting but couldn't hit anything. LOL

Nice shooting, Randy!
I was going to ask you how you managed to not destroy the guy's barn, but then I read your entire post.
So those small pellets, at 400 fps, don't go through the birds?
This is something I've been struggling with, as I start to do more & more pesting.

Randy I really enjoyed that video !!! Great bunch of shooting. I'd be collecting those up for a feast myself, I've heard they're really good eating breast's from those birds.
