2 More Coyotes for 2020

On the 22nd of Dec I went outside with my .25 Marauder because I hold a squirrel taunting me. As I was looking for the little varmint I looked down the hill and low-and-behold there was a coyote on the road down to the lower part of the property about 30 feet away! He sauntered down the road until he got an avocado tree between the two of us. But I could still see him (but no clear shot). I knew as soon as he continued down he'd give me a shot between some branches and sure enough... I hit him center of mass and he made it to some trees on the neighbor's property. I should be able to find him by smell in a few more days.
Then the next day I'm sitting at home working and a darn coyote is on the patio! I went and got the gun (which I keep by the back door these days) and went out quietly. I knew he would see me and take off and sure enough. But they are so cocky that they don't just keep running. I moved around the hillside and there he was about 50 yds away. Heart lung shot brought him down right there. Didn't run a step.
While I really want a .22 or .25 Impact shooting slugs so I can reach out to 200-250 yds reliably the Marauder keeps impressing me with it's lethality.

Thanks everyone. Two of the neighbors up the road have chickens which draws the coyotes. I need to talk to them about staking out on their lnd but I'm not sure how receptive they might be. So it's rather chilly here and even though vultures and crows have been seen circling on two separate occasions no carrion birds have dropped in to feast. Anyone have theories on why not? Do they have to wait until a certain amount of rot has occured?

So here's a question... That coyote was never picked at by crows or buzzards. And plenty did overflights checking it out! Any thoughts? It was about 20 feet away from the nearest trees on 2 sides and way open hillside on the other 2 sides. I'm wondering maybe too close to cover so the birds were spooked to land there? But I've seen crows land in the middle of fairly busy roads to peck at road kill between cars whizzing by.

the crows and Buzzards are too cautious when it comes to Coyotes, maybe they thought it was just sleeping, or playing Possum?
I left my .457 cal Texan with my friend yesterday, He's been having a bunch of Yote's visiting his place at early evening and night, He's going to blast a few if he gets the chance, He'll send me Pictures if he get some.

In fact, has anybody seen a crow on a coyote? We had a pack of 30-40 on the Mississippi about a decade ago and a neighbor thinned them out from deep inside his house on the second floor looking down on the pack.
I saw plenty of turkey vultures but the crows never got close to them.
That pack made the news, there were some interesting stories about them for several years.

I wouldn't have expected that amount of energy to absolutely plant a coyote like that. Probably because of your shot placement. Excellent shot!
We obviously live in different part of Orange County. Even we get coyotes running the streets these days, but it'd be frowned upon at the very least for me to try to take one down. I wouldn't be able to take a safe shot anyway, though.

Great accurate and deadly shots at those two yotes with an air rifle. Up in Ontario, Canada here...I believe in Caledon a or some coyotes or coydog have been feasting on pets. Of course the PC officials don't think of hunters or air gunners...but instead is thinking on how to deal with it....
We have friends in Port Credit in Mississauga, Ontario (Mississauga is I believe the 4th or 6th largest city in Canada...so well populated), and they say in the early morning when they walk their dog(s) sometimes they see 3 or 4 coyotes eyeing and following them.

Down here in San Diego, people walk their littles dogs and Coyotes are so bold as to run up and steal the dog while still on the leash, this has happened in several Golf courses where the Coyotes have lots of area to hunt and people are oblivious their dogs are being stalked..... People down here think there are no Predators, even when they're told there are.....

Some little dogs in our development have been taken. There are no more outdoor cats. The good news: There are more rats to shoot.
