So I am resealing my C9A Silver Streak and upon taking the cartridge piston out I find that is is black inside. What would ya'll recommend I clean it with?

Might give one of those a try but are they abrasive? Was also thinking of Hoppe's #9 then washing it out with simple green since I have both of those. Thanks for the suggestion.

mild abrasive. If the black is oxidation, that amount of metal is getting removed anyway.
Simple Green is corrosive. Not saying don’t use it. Just saying I don’t think you are going to get away with a completely gentle solution.
Let us know how Simple Green works out. Curious.

I've used Semichrome to polish brass before, it works great, the abrasiveness of it is minimal and I doubt it would hinder performance at all. You need lots of elbow grease is all.

Flitz... I have used the Flitz liquid on all sorts of shoft things and it works really good. One of the coolest things I have used it on was a 40mm AA shell casing from 1944. It was dark drown with years of tarnish. It took very little time to make it look like new. It has been a few years and it is still shiny. I have never tried the Flitz paste but the liquid is really mild and works great. Basso is not even in the same class, as I could have never gotten that shell so clean so fast.

Okay so the brass is all clean and shiny, I know I didn't get around to taking pictures... Anyways, I am about to put the valve back in and wondered what to use for lube? Is moly okay, sparingly of course, or should I use chamber oil?

No grease. Just wet the O-rings with whatever you normally lube the gun with.
