Title: GRT-III and GRT-4G triggers no longer sold outside of US.
Post by: CharlieDaTuna on July 15, 2013, 09:56:54 PM
Beginning 7/15/13, I will no longer be shipping and orders outside of the US.  :o All info regarding foreign shipping has been removed from the website.   ::) All triggers in the pipeline will be honored.  ;)

I now have go to the Post Office to fill a declaration and customs form for each and every one. >:(  And also additional fee.  ??? Been sending out of the US for seven years doing it the same way and same bubble wrap envelopes and not once have I had to do this except for volume packages. Just not worth the hassle.  :(

As a new entrant to the air rifle world, researching the rifles that I had to choose from, It soon became apparent that the trigger played a large part in the their accuracy. Reviews showed that a lot of the rifles I had been considering, could be improved significantly, by installing a GRT-III trigger.

Although a Ruger Air Hawk won out as my first air rifle, (because of a great 2 day sale at the gun shop, and a confidence that I could get someone to perform the 2nd screw mod on the trigger), I still want to  upgrade to the GRT and CBR triggers when I get future rifles.

There have been a couple of Stoeger X20s' to have caught my eye this week, and I have been calculating that I could  get a GRT-III within 6 weeks. Now I've just chanced upon some quite disheartening news, that for the foreseeable future, I will not be able to obtain said trigger. This indeed is a disappointment.

You'd think with all the new Free Trade Agreements it would be easier to buy from the US, not harder. The international courier services have become reliable and reasonably quick, but international trade is still stifled by fees, taxes, and process.

But to the issue at hand, how to get GRT-III triggers in the future

- Is it possible that one of the full time shops trading internationally could offer the triggers. Flying Dragon, Pyramyd air, Vortek ?

- If we could organize a buying group, or could convince someone to order in multiples, how many triggers ordered would it take to counter act the new  paperwork and fees. Perhaps a local air rifle dealer/shop would be able to order enough.

- Can a license to manufacture be obtained.

- Is there anyone heading over to New Zealand who could bring a couple over for me.

- There must be something that can be done

If something can't be done, this is truly a loss to many of us outside of the US.

Michael,

You could pay someone to buy one on this side of the border and then ship it to you, if you were willing to pay the extra shipping costs...

NZ Posts new YouShop service might be useful?

Also I believe http://www.nzhunter.com/ (http://www.nzhunter.com/) stock Bob's triggers, or used to at least.

NZ Hunter has the GRT IV, but not the III in stock, he is charging 69.90NZD but I don't know how that translates into USD?

Ah ok, they used to do the III, I hadn't looked in a while though.
$70NZ is about $55US at the moment.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've sent NZ Hunter an email, inquiring as to whether they'd look into importing some more GRT-IIIs, if possible. Also tune kits and parts.

NZ Post puts triggers in the "Dangerous or prohibited" basket.

From their website,

"Dangerous or prohibited items

There are a few items that can't be sent using YouShop .....

...  - firearms - including antique and collectible firearms and parts.

firearms, firearm parts and ammunition.  Firearm parts are any piece of a firearm that is designed or intended to be an integral part of a firearm, regardless of whether it is in working condition.  Firearm parts include, but are not limited to, the breech/chamber, stock/butt, magazine, silencer, barrel, bolt and trigger assembly.

Firearm accessories such as sights, slings and bipods/tripods can be sent"

Although paying someone to send them to me may still provide an option, I noticed the following are also in the "Dangerous or prohibited" pile

'travellers cheques, deeds, negotiable instruments (including any bearer security, bill of exchange or uncrossed cheque), bonds or shares, credit or bank cards, cash, currency, bullion or vouchers, gift cards, or tickets for any games of chance (such as raffle and lottery tickets)'

I thought stones might be alright, but alas they are of course, "Dangerous or prohibited"

"jewellery, watches, precious metals or stones"

Fingers crossed, hoping some kind of bulk ordering or licensing agreement may come through and save the day.

Of course, if anyone is planning an overseas holiday, New Zealand abounds with hunting and shooting opportunities, fishing and diving, in fact a whole host of recreational activities as well as relaxing and rejuvenating natural therapies such as beer and television, about all we're missing is, perhaps, a couple of triggers.

In fact, I've got a spare room that'd be great value at 1 GRT-III per night.

As long as its stated it's for an air rifle not a fire arm NZ Post should carry it.
My QB79 was carried by them after it cleared customs.

The following in no way diminishes my desire to acquire the GRT-IIIs, it is fortunate opportunity that chanced my way in these times of barren outlook. A fire in the darkness if you will, or perhaps a hot water bottle on a winters night.

I went into our local Hunting and Fishing store to see if they could get me a .22 barrel for my Air Hawk, the assistant suggested I take a look at the air rifle wall, as he knows I have a, 'thing' for wooden stocks. and there's a nice one that's just come in. He's tried to convince me of the benefits of synthetic stocks in the past, but I just haven't come across one that grabs me like wood does.

Oh my....  there in amongst a sea of black synthetics is a beautiful wooden stock Weihrauch HW97, I wish I could afford one of those. Closer inspection shows that it is second hand, and ... oh...oh dear...oh my... I could almost maybe possibly be able to afford that

I couldn't really

But I did, and now I have a wonderful new friend to keep me company. We've spent the afternoon getting to know each other a little, and it's now obvious why there is so much praise given to this rifle. And yes, I now know what a joy it is to use the Rekord trigger.

I have something to console me, but a Stoeger X20 with a tune kit and a  GRT-III trigger, is still next on my 'want list'. And I do feel for those others around the world that haven't, and are unlikely to, come across a fortunate chance, as I have. Those that now, don't have the opportunity to upgrade to a GRT trigger.

That does sound promising, is that US or NZ customs, who did the sending, I think it's the sending from another country that's their concern (airlines and shipping), not the actual couriering within NZ

I don't think they sold the Air Hawk as a .22, but if your still looking try Mike Melick on here, he might be able to help you.
Any other Air Hawk parts I can probably sort you out.

It came from Mike Melick in the US, was held in customs in Auckland overnight while they made sure it wasn't a PCP since I didn't supply a police permit, then NZ Post delivered it the next day.

Oh and nice wine rack!!  :P
