My Sense of Humor?
« on: June 17, 2021, 04:44:12 PM »
Okay, I'm a visual sort of guy. I go by what I see much more than what I read as far as understanding something is concerned.

A neighbor's cat turned up missing and they posted a photo of said cat to help identify her.  I took one look at the photo, and just like the arrow in the FedEx logo, I can not "un-see" what I saw.

I posted the following on FB and I had people share it and not one single comment on my addition to the first image.

I've been told that my sense of humor is a tad over some folks heads, but come on, I'm not so old that the obvious is not, well, obvious. I thought the description was a dead giveaway that this was partly tongue in cheek; even the FB fact checkers missed it (no surprises there). I even used words like occupy and territory to further clue in the viewers and nothing.

Really?

The impulse is pure, sometimes our circuits get shorted
by external interference.
Signals get crossed and the balance distorted
by internal incoherence.

Don't think I didn't look into it, but did not have the software to make it look correct.
I did find this however...

Unfortunately (well maybe not) I do not believe in reincarnation. I have a feeling that Herr Hitler's future is closer to what's portrayed in the hilarious dark comedy film, "LITTLE NICKY" then anything some deceased philosopher might have once hoped for.

Unfortunately humor is dead in our modern day society. Folks are too offended by just about everything to recognize humor even if it hit them in the face.
Remember the good old days of people like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Andrew Dice Clay and my favorite.....Sam Kinison.
Once we couldn’t make fun of ourselves or others it was all over.

I miss Sam Kinison.
He warped / bent / twisted my humor more than anyone.
We're all in the same boat, why're you trying to make holes?

For some reason tons of unintelligent people think it's their job to take offense to things on behalf of others.

It has been well proven that one can be very funny telling great clean ( or dirty ) jokes that should not offend anyone, but it has also been proven that something no longer has to be offensive to be labeled as such and cause trouble.

Too many comedians are just afraid to tell real jokes for fear some SJW will hop on social media and get them canceled.

You are right. Too bad I only know one way to cure that problem and it breaks a rule that was hard learned, never solve a temporary problem with a permanent solution.

About 20 yrs ago a local comedy club celebrated its 20th anniversary by inviting one of the first comedians to play the back. His name was Gallagher. For 2 hours that man was on stage never used foul language, never insulted any race or religion or gender and had 99% of the audience laughing so hard their bodies were sore. Yes, I was one of them. After his final encore he walked over to my wife and my table pulls up a chair and says" I want to buy you dinner anyone who enjoys my act so much that he falls off his chair ( twice) deserves it. The three of us sat there at ate and talked about everything we could think of between him signing autographs. The best date night we EVER had.
