Short Eye Relief - Why do many shooters dislike it?

I've read a lot of scope reviews, where the reviewer likes the scope but complains about short eye relief. And this is often with something like 2"
I don't understand how this is a problem. In fact, I'm considering a prismatic scope, with virtually no eye relief, specifically because that creates a much wider FOV. So for instance, you can use a fixed 12X scope but have the FOV of a typical 3X scope. How is that not the perfect rig for a recoil-less rifle?
Also, the one thing I really hate about my current scope is how long it takes to get my eye in just the right position. I've missed plenty of fast moving game because of this. With a "zero" eye relief scope, using a flexible eyepiece, I assume that getting into position would be instantaneous.
Again, how is this not a huge advantage?
Someone please tell me what I'm overlooking here.
Thx.

A short eye relief scope “ can be” a bit critical for head position on the stock for some...especialy if you can’t get it mounted far enough back on some receivers for proper head placement because of your particular anatomy.
The longer eye relief scopes make it more flexable in this regard.
As long as the rifle is’nt a hard recoiler(as in some pb rifles), I don’t particulary mind a short eye relief scope, as I tend to crawl forward on the stock with my head anyway, so no problem either way for me.
As long as the scope is mounted in a way that it instantly gives me a clear sight picture when I shoulder the rifle, i’m good to go.
