... Needed new ballasts in all my fixtures, just bypassed them with the led replacement bulbs, problem solved.
Some if not all LED fixtures come with strip type bulbs and have a driver or a DC power supply. This replaces the ballast of a fluorescent fixture. The replacement bulbs I bought are wired as mentioned, you simply bypass the fluorescent ballast and put hot and return to each pole of the lamp socket. Be advised there are shunt type connectors also, and you will need dual end LED tubes. Most of mine were not the shunted type connectors so I used single ended power tubes. This is important to know the difference, you can light yourself up and trip breakers if you wire it wrong with the wrong type bulb.
If you have 4' fluorescent fixtures, you can buy just the LED replacement bulbs. Then a little simple rewiring and you're upgraded. I just bought about 250 LED tubes and upgraded all the fixtures at work. Twice the brightness with half the bulbs and 1/5th the electricity usage. I think a brighter place makes for happier workers. I bought in lots of 25 and wound up paying about $4.50 per tube. So $9 per 4' fixture to upgrade. I'm also doing the 8' fixtures we have scattered throughout our complex.
