Proper procedure to remove the barrel on my 705-9K?

Is it as simple as removing the plastic handguard/grip from around the barrel/airtube and removing the set screw on the receiver?

This is an interesting video of the Lee Enfield Sentry (English version of the Xisico Sentry) it's 400 pounds over there in England for this gun.

400 pounds , that is way heavier than an old Hatsan :o

I'll settle for the one that I use the most and it's the Sentry 705-9 in .22 cal.  In reality I don't feel a need for it every being regulated, it's much different shooting airguns here in the U.S. than it is in England and I feel I'm better off using mine unregulated for 40+fpe for 24 shots with 32 very useable shots for small/medium game hunting 8)

Got my barrel off my 705-9K, got interrupted for awhile and now can't remember how the shroud came off/goes back on. There's a plastic piece at one end - does it go at the end of the receiver where the barrel goes in? Also, should I lightly lube the two o-rings on the barrel with some Divers grease or Silicone oil?

Here is the diagram of the 705 model,
are you talking about Part#5, end of the bbl?

When reinstalling my barrel, where the breech end sticks out and captures a magazine in the slot as the mag is inserted, how critical (or not) is it as to where the barrel is set/locked down? I can see it would have some bearing as to how far a pellet is pushed in by the bolt probe, yes? Should it be adjusted so the base of the pellet's skirt is forward enough so the air transfer ports are not being blocked? The pic below shows where my pellets (Daisy 15gr HP's) were ending up chambered before I removed my barrel.

Experimenting further, even with the barrel seated as deep as possible, my pellets are still chambering as shown in the pic above, partially blocking the ports. Is this normal? Rifle is shooting the Daisies minute of squirrel to 50-60yds with terminal results so I guess I shouldn't be concerned.

Hi All!!

Okay, so I am just loving the Sentry as my first PCP. But being an air rifle noob really opens up some questions...

So I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on some issues...

First let me just say that I should not be expecting miracles from this budget PCP, or maybe I can? I've read through all the posts, but can't seem to get a good idea of what mods are necessary and which are luxury... So let me state my wishes for this rifle...

In a perfect world I would like this rifle to properly shoot pellets and slugs.
I would like to shoot the JSB Hades in 15.89gr for precision target shooting and feather to rabbit hunting.
Then slugs, 21gr to 30gr, for hunting up to Black backed Jackal (our Coyotes) sized animals.

So I've been reading on mods like opening transfer port, barrel port, throat etc. Spring tension and fitting a regulator...

My question is; which mods are a must?

I thank you all in advance...

Rinus all of my Xisico .22 cal I've opened the valve exhaust, transfer port and receiver port to 5/32".  I've done that on two 702's and my 705.  It is possible to go larger than that but with the exhaust port you'd need to drill that at an angle or anything bigger than 5/32" would ruin the sealing surface for the valve poppet.  I haven't tried a regulator in any of them yet but I feel no need for the type of hunting that I do.  I pretty much shoot slugs only from my 705 because they're so darned accurate from it and all I do is hunt with it.  With the 702's I've got the hammer spring back down further with a lower fill pressure for a good long string for the lighter pellets.

Thanks for the reply Wayne

In South Africa we use metric, so it will be 4mm holes.

How will drilling the ports influence shooting the "normal" pellets? I can't use slugs only, it will just be too expensive...
Also, did you start the string @ 3000psi?

Drilling the TP and barrel port will give the boost slugs need, I am assuming the newer Sentrys have a hammer spring adjuster, that will allow you to cut back the power to still accurately shoot pellets also.
Finding the exact size of your barrel bore, will help with finding the correct slug. Polishing the bore may or may not be needed.

Rinus

You may not get the same results from the barrel on your 705 but with mine, I find the cheap Daisy PrecisionMax 15.21gr HP's are more accurate than the Hades. They have a huge HP cavity and are made from soft lead so they dump a lot of energy on impact and expand well. I'm shooting them at power level 3.5 on my 705-9K and have taken ground squirrels out to 70 yards.

If they are available to you in SA at a decent price, you should consider trying a tin.
