I have an early IZH-61 5 shot repeater with the adjustable trigger, and the plastic breech.
Did they make a 5 shot 61 with a steel breech or only the 60?
-
My 61 has a steel breach, and serial number in the nine millions. I find it hard to believe they made that many.

ls yours a 5 shot repeater?
Are all of the 61s repeaters and the 60 is a single shot

Yes, Mine is a five shot repeater. 61 is the Baikal model number for the repeater and 60 for the single shot. There is a guy in Russia who sells lots of accessories for the 61. Here is an example - a six shot magazine https://airpro.ecrater.com/p/33672845/mp-61-izh-magazine-with-strong-design?keywords=izh+61

This is the numbers on mine.
S/N - 036111135B
My paper work in the box has JUNE 2003 as the inspection / build date.

John, How do you like using your IZH? Is it accurate? My 61 repeater is packed up in the box, ready to pass along.

We have a pair of 61s purchased new in 2009, both with steel breaches. Bought them to teach my nephews who ended up being more interested in guitar and piano, not that there's anything wrong I play both. One is new in the box, the other has a few thousand rounds through it, mostly backyard antics, cans, silhouette and blackbirds. Ergonomics are fantastic, especially for smaller folks. It's accurate enough that the limitations are on the shooter. During my "off years" the 61 and the 46M were the two I reached for the most for effortless end of day recreation.

I did not know about these rifles (I have a IZH46M).
I was given a 60 at a swamp meet in Sacramento a couple of months ago.
I like it.
There is a EBay channel just for the IZH rifles…

I love my IZH 61, it just has such a cool feel to it, it can be adjusted to fit almost anyone, and it shoots great.
I will say it is not really a beginner's gun in my opinion, based on the multiple steps needed to fire the weapon.
Once you get the loading, cocking, and safeties understood, it is a super fun and accurate gun.
I'm keeping my eye out to find a steel breech model for my collection, but for now I'm very happy with my composite receiver.
I have not had any issues with my receiver, so I guess I just want a steel receiver to have a back-up.
I did buy the air ventures model in green. Nice gun, but not an IZH.

Skillet, are you selling it, or passing it down in the family?

Nice IZH 60. I'm sure I will add one to my collection at some point.
Thanks for sharing the photo.
