Maybe I'm the last to learn this, but Rustoleum paint in spray cans is really aggravating if you don't use it all in a single instance. The spray nozzle clogs way too easily. So for touch-ups, Rustoleum spray paint just is not worth it. I have several cans that clogged long before they were empty. On the other hand, I like Valspar Project Perfect enamel spray paint. It's a better product for someone who does occasional touch-up work. After each use, you invert the can and spray until clear propellant comes out.Done. It's clean for the next use.Bob
When you finish a small job, hold the can upside-down and spray until color leaves the spray. Then store the can upside-down until the next job. Works for me!
I have done this in the past with some success:I do the spray upside-down thing first. Then I remove the spray nozzle and shoot some WD40 through it. Brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner could probably be substituted too. The paint in the can is the problem sometimes and that is why "Rustoleum" is not the best product for small jobs.Solution: Do the spray painting job applying layers according to label instructions. When the satisfactory finish is achieved, take the can out into the back yard and use it as a target for you next pellet rifle shooting session. POOF- PSSSSssssssss - Pellet Rifle ART!
Very cool your figuring out the target paint situation ... clubs 45+ target are needing your love and attention

Try removing the spray tip and soaking it in a cap full of your wife's nail polish remover (acetone) over-nite.
When you realize what happens to the targets, oftentimes just hours or minutes after they are painted, then it explains why we use the cheapest spray paint available. One can still buy basic cans of black or white for just $1.00 at Walmart.

The Dollar store, Job Lot, Walmart, hardware store during a sale. A few surprising places to find spray paint cheap is craigslist, facebook classifieds pages and when the weather's nice yard sales. It would seem the cheapest of paint works the best too as it doesn't fly away in chunks when hit with a pellet.
