I know the low on gas and no service station within the range of your current gas remaining in your tank. Think "Wild Hogs" It happened to me in South Dakota when returning from Sturgis. It is prudent to ask Questions when filling up how far to the next station and what the road conditions may be

I have my wife's 2016 Odyssey (appropriate name for this trip), so I think I can go from 6 hours between fills.
Google Maps on your smart phone will let you search for gas stations, hotels, or even liquor stores along your chosen route.
My wife would be so perturbed if I did run out
We are currently on a 5 week, 6800 mile trek across the U.S. We also vacuum packed our clothes and some items. You can re-vacuum them with a 12V or A/C inflator using the intake to deflate/vacuum the air out.I also brought an airgun. We are currently in southern Arizona and the collard doves and pigeons are everywhere. Thinking I should offer my services to the hotel we're at. 😁

I have made many trips across the U.S., I will fill up when it gets down to half a tank if I pass a nice oasis with gas and a restaurant, especially if you have kids.Get out, stretch your legs, wake up, switch drivers, hydrate.Hunter
If you drive through Louisiana and want a taste of French Creole, avoid New Orleans and stop in Breau Bridge. It's a small, very quaint, Creole village with a couple good restaurants and at least one hotel. A million times better than New Orleans.
