Ruger Blackhawk/XS-25 long term durability?

Curious as to the long term durability of these rifles and things to watch for. I know not to cock the rifle out of the stock as it will damage the piston sleeve. Anything else? Not talking about springs and seals, but other failures in the long run. Or do they keep going if properly lubed and cared for? At half the cost or less of their Diana counterpart, will they hold up in the long run?

I've never seen an XS-25 but if they are close to a Diana 34 there is a pin connecting cocking linkage together. It has one e clip to hold it in place. That clip is in the center of the pin. That groove is a weak spot. When it breaks you will be unable to cock the gun.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll watch for that. It seems there are very few weak points for springers and I have yet to wear one out, aside from piston seals (and plastic pivot washers on another brand). Don't even know if it's possible aside from cocking linkage problems or maybe trigger issues.

Ditto on the front linkage pin. Watch the bracket on the barrel For tightness where the front stock screws attach. I have a the AH and BH in 177. After owning and shooting both for several years If I was deciding today based on what I know now between purchase of a Diana 34 vs Ruger Blackhawk/Airhawk I would go with a Diana 34. I say this because purchase of a Chinese gun is more the luck of the draw due to lower quality control on the Chinese. People can and do get ones that are junk. The Diana would be something more desirable to pass on I think. I go back and forth shooting different breakbarrels. I often think if I had just purchased one Diana 34 classic 177 when I started shooting the break barrels and shot it as much as I have the others totaled that I would be better at shooting the one Diana gun. I may even be really good with the Diana. But at the time I saw the AH in WM I had never heard of a Diana 34 and knew nothing about break barrels. Looking at your list of guns EROOz you have lots of experience.

My oldest 34 is from 1988 and still going strong. The Airhawk is pretty much a 34. Barring some defect in manufacture it ought to last a long time.

I've started with budget guns and worked my way up. Had quite a few project guns. Most were on sale or otherwise cheap (sub $100), only a few bought at full price. In process of thinning out the collection. The list has gotten smaller, just recently updated. The most anyone of my guns has shot was around 5,000-6,000 rounds(10-12 tins) and was going strong, after a piston seal around 4,000 shots. Hoping these will last at least that long or possibly longer. I never really mastered the artillery hold, but have been easily able to take out pests to 30 yards with break barrels, and tin cans and such out beyond 50 yards for fun.
Bought the Blackhawk (and R.A.M.) because it was a Diana clone, kind of testing the waters to see if I liked the platform before buying the real deal. Wasn't sure how long I should expect the clones to last or possible failure points. But will keep an eye on the cocking linkage and pins. I enjoy the clones for what they are, and I think I got lucky with the two Rugers I have.
Thanks for the replies, take it easy.
