I am not sure it is better anywhere else,.. for anyone else.Carl's situation is unique as in,.... land already bought, sail boat, existing dock, water/sea access.Being it is a seller's market right now,... what is the land now worth (over and above what paid) and what options that might free up? Not ideal at all, but an idea.
I need to go to Home Depot today, working on a project that requires 20 - 20' PT 2x4s.Can't wait to see where the prices have gone on them.I am in the mood to get this project done so I will probably buy no matter what the cost. The project is to outline the House, the walkways, and the rear patio with about 30" wide stone bed. Mostly time consuming but with temps hitting 88 degrees it can be tiring.Just in case someone asks, I put up the boards, put in a layer of Preen, a heavy duty Weed Blocker Sheet, and then the Stone... something called Pepper Stone.
Or, consider moving to Alabama, if you can put up with all us toothless, smelly rednecks. "The 24/7 Wall Street analysis showed Alabama real estate was much more affordable. The median home value in Alabama was $141,300 with median home value per square foot of $76, the second lowest in the country."
that backyard is amazing !
200-250% increase in retail prices while logs are at record lows, someone's gouging the *(&^ out of us
Carl,Glad you are going to get settled in for a bit and making the best of it all. Did you get all locked in on new house/contractor and all of that yet? If so, that will be something to be looking forwards to.

We are seeing the same phenomenon in other business industry sectors....I am in health care, and during covid, so many people don't want to work when they can sit home and collect more than they would make working, so there is a shortage of workers, which is being artificially created and sustained, and it will take awhile (maybe a LONG while) for the business sectors and the economy to get anywhere back to resembling normal.
