Anyone have any thought on how to measure hammer spring weight if you don't have a specific tool for that? My .30 came with an extra spring, but I have no idea if it's lighter or heavier than the one that's already installed. Thanks...
Well, I figured out the extra spring is the lighter of the two. I used my trigger gauge and compressed both springs about an inch and it took more to compress the spring that was in the gun, so I just put it back. I'm not seeing 1000+ FPS out of any of the ammo I have tried thus far. The FX Hybrid slugs are averaging 950 FPS, they are 44.5 grain and the 48.6 grain Vortex are averaging 943 FPS. These are the results from the NSA Sampler I tried:Pellet Weight Avg FPS FPENSA Slug 43.80 950.40 87.87NSA Slug 47.50 922.20 89.72NSA Slug 49.50 899.20 88.89NSA Slug 54.50 888.20 95.49NSA Slug 61.50 825.80 93.15I have some JSB 44.75 and 50.15 grain pellets coming along with some 44.75 grain Hades. I do have it set to max power, so I'm guessing the .30 cal Challenger isn't built to produce as much power as the .357.

I need to order a mold or 2 for this .30 gun ... I have just been waiting to see what size these like before I have the molds set up ...

The spring that was in there (and still is) when those were shot was the stiffer spring. I had Salome spring washers I had bought when I had the AEA Backpacker to stiffen the folding stock. Those fit the Hammer Spring end cap perfectly, so I added 2 to increase HS tension a bit. I have not tested yet, other than to ensure I could still cock it. I’ll report back after I have a chance to get some new Chrony numbers.
