Personally your right niel I didn't want to do the action also but I wasn't going to spend £160 on rebluing like I did for my old weihrauch hw77k by Paul chell. What an awesome job he and the guys did was worth the money on a expensive rifle but not on a striker edge not so much it just didn't outlay the cost. But anyway. Got the stock done and the rifle put back together really happy with the progress one more item to go on. Which is the DIY silencer just waiting on the adapter then once I have that I can call the rifle refurb finished but here are a couple of pics of the tired hatsan striker edge I rescued.

Nice job considering what you had to start with. Had one, bought new because I had a few of my usual lame ideas in my head...lol. When the dust settled a couple weeks later, the Edge Vortex .177 I started with new looked like this:
