I remember a spokesman for Sig saying they were using a manufacturer that was producing quality gas rams for the ASP 20. Did anyone ever figure out who that was? For the price I hope it's not Turkish or Chinese.

Not a clue but very likely neither one. While you can try, they may or may not say if you shot them an email asking. They also won't sell you one (or anything else for it) if yours goes bad. If memory serves, they're very picky about their warranty and pretty much anything you might try doing to one voids their warranty except for simple trigger adjusting.
Crosman are probably Chinese and sealed units but cheap to replace, about $10 each last time I saw it mentioned. The Turkish ones aka Hatsan are something like $50 but can at least be rebuilt and refilled if the seals go bad plus they're adjustable powerwise if you have a hand pump and Hatsan fill probe.
